What the club says: Bury St Edmunds Golf Club was founded in 1924 with an original design by the first British Ryder Cup captain Ted Ray. The course is set in 150 gently rolling acres of established parkland, with most holes flanked by magnificent mature woodland. The par 72, 18 hole course plays 6,676 yards off the white tees, making it one of the longest in the county, but the walking is easy enough. The nine-hole pay-and-play course is renowned for its outstanding year-round condition (no handicap certificate is required), it is less mature than the main course but no less attractive and is a perfect starting point for beginners.

Not too tough, lots of interest

Scored low for practice facilities which are closed for refurbishment. New practice facilities look like they are going to be quite something.

Delightful 9 hole course

Our first outing to a proper course as previously we've played at Old Joes. And we were delighted. A very nice club house, good condition fairways and very good condition greens offering bowling green standards.

Albeit a short course with no par 5,s it is still a good test and can only improve ones short game. The 6th is probably the signature hole being 440 yard par 4

testing 9 hole

Course overall is in good condition although as is the time of year there are a number of leafs about. Tee boxes in good condition and the greens are of average pace and true. For what the club charges this is a good course and can help improve anybody's short game. Signature hole is the par 4 440 yard 6

Lovely

Really enjoyed my game at BSE.
The course layout was great fun - back 9 is definitely tougher with a challenging finish.

The course is tree lined but quite forgiving in places. The real defense is the length and greens - which by the way were fantastic to putt on.

Really enjoyable and players of all abilities should go and have a game here.

I played here on their Winter Warmer package which was excellent value for money. The Pro Shop is fantastic, well stocked and Uber friendly. The members I met were also very friendly and helpful on the course. The greens and fairways were in very good condition considering all the rain and bad weather we have had this winter. Just a little warning: There are no tee off times so if you turn up at the wrong time, ie behind a 'regular? group outing, you could wait a while before it's your turn.

Lovely course and clubhouse

Really neat and tidy course. Greens were excellent when we played. Very true and quite fast. There are some long par 4s which are a bit of a slog, but overall a really nice course. The clubhouse is also excellent and the food really good. It has one of the nicest terraces overlooking the 18th green that I have seen. Overall I would highly recommend this as a place to visit and play.
