BMW Masters Win for Galvin Green Ambassador Hanson

By: Golf Shake | Mon 29 Oct 2012

4794-hansonPeter Hanson held off the challenge of the World No.1 and seven other Ryder Cup team mates when he captured his biggest ever victory at the BMW Masters in Shanghai last weekend (28 October) and confirmed his position as the leading Tour ambassador for performance clothing brand Galvin Green.

His second win in three tournaments, following triumph at the KLM Open in September, gave Galvin Green its fourth title on the European Tour this season after debut wins for Jamie Donaldson at the Irish Open and Thorbjørn Olesen in the Sicilian Open.

In humid conditions around 23°C and wearing a green Max Tour Edition shirt and black Ned Ventil8™ trousers, Hanson kept his cool to finish on 21 under par - one shot better than playing partner Rory McIlroy, four shots in front of Luke Donald and five ahead of Ian Poulter. Others in the chasing pack included Justin Rose (T6), Martin Kaymer and Graeme McDowell (T11) and Nicolas Colsaerts and Lee Westwood (T14).

“This is by far my biggest win in my career,” said Peter as he lifted the trophy and took the first prize of €888,560 to move into second spot in the Race to Dubai. The win also took him inside the world top 20 rankings and exceeding earnings of €2m in a single season for the first time.

“He deserved it,” said World No.1 McIlroy who put him under increasing pressure on the back nine. “To go out with a lead and play the way he did and shoot 67 is very impressive.”

The win in China is Hanson’s sixth Tour title and the 11th worldwide of his career.

The tournament had begun with Jamie Donaldson scoring 10 birdies for a first round lead, two shots ahead of Hanson who recorded no fewer than 28 birdies over the four days.

“Peter has given the Galvin Green brand sensational global exposure this season, from his great performance at the Masters with the flame-coloured shirt, to his latest win in Shanghai,” said CEO Christian Nilsson. “In doing so, he’s shown golfers everywhere the value of performance clothing designed for warmer climates, as well as cold or wet conditions.”
