Membership Numbers Rise at Exceptional Scottish Golf Club

By: Golfshake Editor | Wed 18 Sep 2024

We have recently seen courses like The Hirsel and Torrance Park close their doors, but Perthshire's Murrayshall Country Estate is bucking the trend in Scotland, having reported a 16% increase in new members this year and a rise in the number of rounds played.

This growth follows a strategic four-year investment plan that has significantly enhanced the club’s facilities and reputation.

Set within 365 acres of stunning countryside, Murrayshall offers a unique golfing experience with two parkland golf courses and a total of 27 holes. Murrayshall's championship course has hosted prestigious events such as the Scottish National Under 16s Championship and the Scottish PGA Pro-Am. These high-profile tournaments solidify its position as a premier golfing destination and have driven a 15% increase in green fee rounds this year.

A recent £1 million investment has modernised the Murrayshall championship course with a US-style parkland layout, enhanced drainage, renovated bunkers, and a new fleet of Jacobsen mowers, all of which have improved the course’s playability and extended the playing season.

The Lynedoch Course, a scenic 10-hole layout, offers a more relaxed option for quick rounds or for juniors. Complementing this is the expansive driving range, perfect for honing skills and practising strokes, and the Pro Shop where stock levels have increased threefold, offering brands such as Hackett, NIKE, Puma and Glenmuir. Murrayshall members also benefit from exclusive pricing on golf equipment.

Plans are also underway to build a new golf academy with 17 bays and two teaching bays, enhancing the practice facilities and Pro Shop.

These continuous improvements have led to increased interest in Murrayshall’s membership offerings. With flexible options starting from £100 up to £950 for a full 7-day access, the club caters to golfers of all levels. The club’s commitment to quality and accessibility is evident in its well-maintained courses, efficient pace of play and strategic blend of green fees and memberships, ensuring an enjoyable experience for all players.

The estate’s commitment to excellence extends beyond the golf course, with dining options ranging from hearty meals with live music at Cairns Bar & Restaurant to fine dining in the two-rosette restaurant.

Darrin Urquhart Golf Course Manager said, "Murrayshall’s growth reflects our commitment to quality and community. We’ve focused on both the golf experience and our facilities, and the feedback speaks for itself. Golfers are continually impressed by the immaculate condition of our greens, and we are the ideal choice for golfers seeking a top-tier experience in Scotland."

General Manager at Murrayshall Country Estate, Gary Silcock said, "Our ongoing investment in world-class amenities and exceptional service, both on and off the course, is attracting more members and guests. People are recognising the unique quality and charm that Murrayshall offers, and we are well positioned to continue this momentum and welcome even more golfers who seek a premier experience."
