What It's Like to Play Golf at Wentworth
Wentworth is synonymous with European Tour golf, having been home to the flagship PGA Championship since 1984, in addition to staging the iconic World Match Play Championship for decades, which makes it one of the most recognisable golf courses in the UK - but it's also among the most exclusive.
Drawing a membership who pay eye-watering fees to be part of the venue, these days it can be challenging to access tee times as a visitor, unless you know a member, or participate in one of many corporate events hosted there.
Originally designed by the great Harry Colt in the 1920s, Ernie Els has overseen a revamp of the West Course in more recent times, but the odds are that the closest you will get to experience it are either by attending the BMW PGA Championship in person or watching on TV.
However, some lucky golfers do play here, as we have received several reviews during the past few years from members of the Golfshake Community. These fortunate people describe it all for us.

What It's Like to Play Golf at Wentworth
Giving you a flavour of the West Course at Wentworth, here are some insightful comments from golfers!
"The whole overall experience was outstanding, shame my golf was off but enjoyed the course."
"It is perfect in every way, with great practice facilities, and the course is outstanding. The greens are very fast and true, tee boxes like most course greens. Friendly staff."
"The West Course at Wentworth - home of the PGA Championship in Europe - is as good as you would expect and hope. Beautifully tranquil and picturesque, it is great on the eye. Lots of subtle doglegs and elevation changes. It is long off the white tees and played all of the 7,000 yards when I played it as it rained very heavily overnight. The sub-air system ensured the greens were first class, pure and very fast. One of the most impressive heathland/parkland courses in the UK. As good as it said on the tin."
"Course in spotless condition apart from the bunkers which had just seen a lot of rain so sand was compacted and hard. Minor quibble. Beautiful course, fantastic clubhouse and just an overall experience that's hard to beat."
"I recently had the privilege of playing this iconic golf course and it was an amazing experience. The condition of the course was perfect and it offered a great test of golf without being too challenging. The halfway house was friendly and the marshalls kept the game running smoothly. I found the course to be beautiful and it was a dream come true to play it."
"The West at Wentworth is simply stunning to play, but very long and brutal. If you don’t have your A game, expect to be beaten up."
"Perfection personified! Not very often anyone gets a chance to play at such an exclusive venue! Everything seen on the TV is just as it is when playing. Service levels are sky high and the venue just oozes quality! By far the best course I have played in the UK."
