Mizuno JPX921 Irons Review

By: Golfshake Editor | Thu 17 Sep 2020

The JPX Series Irons have been a hugely popular and successful addition for Mizuno in recent years, but that engineering has been taken to another level following the launch of the new 921 Family, a range developed alongside the manufacturer's custom-fitting programme to provide enhanced levels of performance.

Included within the Family are the JPX921 Forged, offering the fastest ball speed yet from a Mizuno Fully Forged Iron, the stable JPX921 Tour, and the JPX921 Hot Metal and Hot Metal Pro, both of which have been crafted from high-strength Chromoly 4140M. Each model has been designed to suit a particular type of golf swing.

Testing the JPX921 Family, Golfshake's Equipment Expert Ryan Rastall has closely studied and reviewed the clubs at Howley Hall in Leeds, using them on the course and analysing data on TrackMan to provide an insight behind each of the irons.

You can see Ryan's detailed reviews on all of the new Mizuno irons below.

JPX921 Hot Metal & Hot Metal Pro

Both of the Hot Metal Irons are geared towards providing greater ball speed and improved forgiveness through the introduction of a stability frame within the face and seamless cut face technology. They feature Chromoly through the construction, while the Hot Metal Pro boasts graphite shafts to encourage an easier launch.

But how can you separate them? Ryan provides a side by side comparison between the two.

JPX921 Tour

Designed to offer that classic and renowned feel that Mizuno is famous for, the Tour features Grain Flow Forged HD from 1025E Pure Select Mild Carbon steel, all of which has been deployed to deliver that quintessential performance. Ryan tested a full set of these irons to discover whether they match high expectations.

JPX921 Forged

Created to be more forgiving than the Tour, the JPX921 Forged delivers a sleek and distinctive look but offers that extra support on off-centre hits, meaning they have that pure style alongside modern demands. Ryan took these onto the course to see how they perform under the examination of testing.
