Best Hybrids of 2020

By: Golfshake Editor | Thu 30 Jan 2020

Many of the golf industry's most innovative technologies are being implemented within hybrids, showcased through the many new releases that we have seen unveiled on the market for this year. Designed to help you hit the ball more consistently from a variety of lies and positions on the course, these clubs have become an integral part of the game for golfers, often replacing longer irons and traditional fairway woods in their bags.

However, looking at the offering for 2020, Golfshake's Equipment Expert, Ryan Rastall, has chosen his favourite hybrids for this season, picking out the top products and explaining why he rates them so highly.

Ryan is the PGA Professional at Howley Hall Golf Club in Leeds and has tested these new hybrids at the venue's Performance Centre, including the use of TrackMan data to analyse their performance and make an informed assessment.

Callaway MAVRIK Hybrids

The MAVRIK Hybrid is the most innovative that Callaway has released yet, the first with a face optimised by A.I., making the most of Jailbreak and Face Cup Technology to create a club that delivers speed and distance. The A.I. has designed a unique face for every loft, providing ideal performance for each model. The MAVRIK MAX is an easier, game improvement, version for golfers who require that little bit extra room for error.

Cobra SZ SpeedZone Hybrids - Variable, One Length

Wilson Launch Pad Hybrid

Known as the FYbrid, Wilson's Launch Pad Hybrid has been created to replace a 3-iron, 3-hyrid and even a 7-wood, designed to be a gapping club for higher handicap golfers, featuring an ideal launch angle of the club face to encourage greater distances. It features the same high-strength Carpenter Custom 455 face and moderate hosel offset as Wilson's Launch Pad fairway woods, aligned with 13 grams in the sole of the club to promote a closed face at impact.

Titleist TS Series

Part of Titleist's Speed Project, the TS2 and TS3 Hybrids were created to provide a faster ball speed, higher launch, lower launch, lower spin and enhanced MOI for more greater consistency. Through the technologies introduced, the TS have become the most played hybrids on the PGA Tour.

TaylorMade SIM MAX Hybrid

The SIM MAX Hybrid is a long-iron replacement model that incorporates V Steel Technology, possessing a clubhead that improves greater turf interaction, reducing friction from various lies. The A reshaped leading edge works in conjunction with V Steel to further improve playability and strike conditions. Additionally, the inclusion of Twist Face and Speed Pocket offers greater performance and forgiveness on miss-hits on the toe, heel and low on the face.

PING G410 Hybrid

PING's G410 Hybrid is the manufacturer's first model that is adjustable, allowing golfers to customise their ball flight in eight different ways through loft and lie combinations for consistently better results. Thinner and more flexible, the maraging-steel face generates faster ball speeds and higher launch. A larger profile and high-density back weight provide added stability and elevate MOI for more forgiveness.
