Four Week Chipping Programme: Week 4 - Find the Average Game

Many amateur golfers will have a tendency to practice the short game shots they are confident with and don't have any trouble executing well, leaving a variety of shots where the player becomes unfamiliar with and scared to play when out on the golf course.

Phil Akers, a senior teaching professional at the Belfry creates a very simple drill in order for you to mix your short game practice sessions up with a variety of different elements. By playing shots that you aren't very confident with or struggle with in combination with chips shots you succeed at consistently your overall average after the drill is honest and reflective of your current position.

This average you achieve from completing this drill sets a benchmark and a standard that you can work hard at to beat. Constantly beating your targets and renewing them will only help you identify the strengths and weaknesses in your game so you can improve out on the course.
