Four Week Chipping Programme: Week 4 - The Ladder Drill

By: Phillip Akers | Fri 07 Jul 2017 | Comments ()

Finding an effective way of practicing your short game when you are not on the course is a key factor in improving your chipping when you turn up to the course and play. However, finding an effective method to practice which resembles a realistic situation is very hard to come by, and most people will end up going to the chipping area for 15 minutes with 3 golf balls chipping to random pins, a practice method that isnt very effective.

Phil Akers introduces his ladder drill, 5 simple squares in which you attempt to land the golf ball inside, each one further away than the last. The simple drill starts to resemble the course as it entices you to target your landing zones and hit them accurately and consistently.

Practicing with this method will create a game like situation, making it easier for you to take these abilities with you out on the course.
