Bunker Tip - Learn to play the high launching bunker shot
Most amateur golfers find any bunker shot a difficult short game technique, the high and soft landing bunker shot is no exception to this rule.
Phil Akers, a senior teaching professional at the Belfry believes that the shot can be made a lot harder than it needs to be, simply trusting the loft on the club and commiting to the shot can produce the best result.
One aspect of the shot that Phil believes is paramount to success is choosing the right club with the appropriate amount of bounce. His choice for this shot is a high lofted wedge with plenty of bounce, using the curvature and bounce of the club is crucial to succeeding with this shot.
Making sure you open the club face and softly clip the ball instead of digging into the sand in a steep and aggressive action will naturally improve the ball flight of your future bunker shots out on the course.
