What the club says: Bordered by fields and natural woodland on the outskirts of Birmingham, Shirley Golf Club nestles in the Blythe Valley, enjoying a well planned blend of parkland with mature, wooded areas. Set in 140 acres, the course measures some 6,537 yards offering great charm as well as a real challenge.
There's plenty of opportunity to open your shoulders and test your skills, but you'll need to think your way round..many fairways being flanked by mature trees, with water frequently coming into play. There are some memorable holes that will tax your game strategy for sure!
Shirley represents one of the finest parkland courses in the area, renowned for its warm welcome to visitors and living up to it's reputation of being "The Friendliest Club in the Midlands". Whether your're visiting from another club, a golf society or just starting out on the "learning to play" journey...we're set up to cater for every need.
For visiting societies, we can tailor a unique day for your members from arrival at the club to your presentation dinner, we're here to make your visit as enjoyable as it is memorable.

First time, won't be the last
I had the pleasure of playing Shirley GC with my Father during my recent trip back to the UK. We tee'd off just after 8am, and the course was already busy, with members waiting behind us to get on. My father's a member and had arranged the lend of a half set from the club Pro for me. I was pleasantly surprised to receive a set of used Taylormade irons, a new Stealth driver, and a Scotty Cameron putter. Needless to say, my game didn't do the equipment or the course justice. What a fabulous little layout, not the longest but very testing with avenues of trees, sharp doglegs, and carries over water. It was also in surprisingly good condition when considering the unusually hot summer weather. The greenkeepers have done a fantastic job. The clubhouse bar is welcoming, and members keen to meet the new chap. One thing I will say, is that members seem to like a brisk pace of play, we got ushered around in just over 3 hours. I'll definitely be playing there again on my next trip home, but maybe when it's a little quieter in the afternoon, and maybe play at a slightly more leisurely pace..Reviewer Rating

Well worth a visit, a good test of Golf
The alteration to the tree lined fairways are an improvement making the course more interesting and enjoyable for higher handicap players. Course very wet due to heavy rain in the passed few weeks.Reviewer Rating
