What the club says: The course was originally designed by Tom Morris and has matured since its' conception in 1892. Measuring just over 6600 yards from the medal tees and with a par of 72, the course has proved to be a challenging but fair test of golf and boasts some of the longer par fives in the area. Combining the elements of both links and heathland with the constantly changing strength and direction of the wind, means that that shot making is at a premium.

Newcastle
I've played here hundreds of times in last 40 years.Its a tough challenge in the wind
Rough is thick but fairways are wide enough.
Greens are immaculate.

Hard course

terrible
Conditions were awful ..really wet on the course and all 18 were temporary greens and temporary tees so of the holes were so short of the proper length...Reviewer Rating

Deadly rough
The course has narrow undulating fairways and long dense rough; we lost several balls that just rolled into the thick stuff. You wouldn't mind if this was due to poor shots but good shots often received uneven bounces from the fairway ending up in trouble. It meant you couldn't get value for playing well.Reviewer Rating
