What the club says: Opened in 1989 the course is maturing well and has a good mix of undulating meadow and parkland holes. Trees and water come into play on a number of holes and the large pond in the middle of the 9th hole makes you think carefully with your tee shot. The 13th is a long dogleg par 5 which lulls you into a sense of security however beware the out of bounds on either side or the strategically placed bunkers before you turn for the green. The one special thing about Cave Castle is the peace and quiet – surrounded by farmland the only noise is the wildlife and banter of other players!

Nice Enough Course

Nice and fairly tight course, with little opportunity to use driver if you cant hit it straight!
Greens were a little slow and bumpy from recent tinning and lots of un-repaired pitch marks on greens which means players don't treat the course very well.
Clubhouse shut rather early considering we were a 30 person society!!

Overall experience great, course so so

Our gang of four had a weekend break here and took in Beverley races as well as golf both days. Accommodation great, food great, service patchy (some young inexperienced staff.) but always keen to please. The course is an interesting test with decent length and level of challenge. Greens were good. Less good were the teeing areas which ranged from fair to atrocious, the bunkers which had too much unsettled sand and a few of the holes to my taste are "fairground" holes (eg the 16th.)

Really enjoyed our 3-day stay at Cave Castle. The course was well presented and in good condition. The greens ran very true, however, the tree-protected greens as you may expect did seem slower and caught a few of our group out on occasions. The only criticism would be of the bunkers. They take the award of having the deepest sand-filled bunkers I have ever experienced. The fairway bunkers in particular I found difficult to play from because of the depth of the sand.

Good variety of challenges

Despite the wet underfoot conditions, the course was presented well, greens were good and there was a good variety of challenges over the different holes

Played here three years ago and had a good time. However, Played here on Sunday. Won’t be coming back. No bunkers in play as they’ve not got sand in. Lots of bare patches on the fairways. The fringe around the greens not good. Greens are terrible - worst I’ve seen in a long time. The course has gone down hill significantly since I played last time . Shame really .

Wrong time of the year

Will never play here again, at this time of year. It was the wettest +boggy course I've played. You had it search for your ball on nearly every shot. Because of the leaves or it was plugged in the ground.
After the game we all look as if we've been in a mud bath. They closed the course, unplayable by the time we got back to the club house.

Neat and tidy course. Maturing nicely

Been a while (10 yrs) since last visited and there are a few more "obstaclls" , i.e. Trees and bushes. Not so "open" now. Tees could have done with being repositioned as plenty of divots and uneveness but greens were good, a bit slow on some but quite true. Rough wasn't too bas and fairways were very playable. The 18th is a card wrecker if you are not aware of the length and I had forgotten !!

Delightful Parkland Course

Played end of August and the course was in excellent condition. The greens were true and quick and the fairways wide enough... for the most part! The whole course was well maintained. I found it had the right balance of challenge, but still offering hope to an 18 H/C player. Par 4s that were reachable with a drive and a mid-short iron and 3s that didn't require a wood off the tee. The pro was very welcoming and the clubhouse had a decent range of refreshments available and polite bar staff. All in all a very enjoyable outing.
