What the club says: While Hessle is quite a long course at 6,608 yards, it’s fairly easy for walking due to the terrain being reasonably flat. There have been several developments to the course over the years, including a new lake between the fifth and sixth hole, which may cause problems to golfers who have a tendency to slice their tee shots. A second lake has also been formed at the par 3 sixteenth hole which requires both length and accuracy to make the green in one.

the clubhouse too gets the thumbs up from the pro shop to the ladies behind the bar, they also need a mention for the hospitality they offer to you.
i will definitely be back.

First round as a guest
Had a lovely blue sky day for my frst ever full round as a guest. Great practice facilities, shame the kitchen closed at 1630 so we had to go else where for dinner which was a bit dissapointing.Reviewer Rating

Nice layout
Greens were good and fairways OK. Its not a tricky course so good for beginners with a few quirky holes, a bit pricey so try and get a deal.Reviewer Rating

Fantastic track! Bring your ‘A’ game
Played this whilst in Hull on business. Was recommended as the best track in East York’s and I can see why.
Fabtastic test of your golf game. Some of the best greens I’ve played in terms of condition and level of difficulty.
If you can play to your handicap you’ll have had a great round.
I can see why England Golf have awarded this course the northern qualifier for the Brabazon Trophy.

The course is lovely. Parkland, gentle undulations, easy walking. There are near enough 10,000 trees lining the course, apparently. Plenty of trouble to find off the tee - you need to be accurate. Once on the greens - they are USGA specification- avoiding three putting is the key. They are tough because of the slopes but they are big enough to hit. Great condition all round. Lovely contouring. Very attractive!
Good practice facilities, covered driving bay, short game area, putting green and a larger seperate practice area too. Friendly staff in pro-shop and in the clubhouse. Great views from first floor of clubhouse. Our group sat on the balcony which overlooks the 9th & 18th greens and fairways which was a great position to enjoy post round pints. Didn't try food but looked pretty decent.
Course highly recommended. Our groups consensus - none had played it previously- was that it was one of the best - and toughest- courses in Yorkshire.
We will definitely return next year.
