What the club says: Noted for being the oldest golf club in Nottingham, Golf has been played at Bulwell since the 1870s, although the club has only existed in its present state since 1902. Set on mature heath land, it’s noted for its undulating land and has many tight fairways and old trees. Five demanding par 3s increase the challenge of playing the course.

It’s not a long course – measuring 5826 yards from the White tees but it still provides a challenge for even the most competent of golfers. Bulwell Forest Golf Club celebrated its centenary in 2002. And until recently it was a municipal club, but in 2004 the Club negotiated a long term agreement with the City Council.

Played 4 ball on 26th sept, very impressed with the course. The signage to the next tee would be good especially from the 16th to the 17th tee as it is out of sight. Bunker rakes would have been good but I think I understand why there weren't any .
Will definitely return for another round in the future.

First time

Played here Friday 13th sep, never been before and have to say what a great place, everyone so friendly right from moment got out of the van, ground staff, shop, clubhouse and locals who even invited me to play my round with them and show me the course and help with tips etc. Fantastic and a great course with lots cheeky bits! Will be back again. Greens in fab condition too. Cheers guys!

A good, quick option

Short enough to accommodate more junior / less experienced players such as myself, but punishing for more advanced players who stray off line with long rough, slopes and undulations, and mature trees and wooded areas. Slopes and valleys on the fairways and around greens add interest / challenge for all. Unfortunately rounds can be disrupted by non-playing public due to crossing footpaths and an adjacent recreation ground leading to some treating the course like an extension of the recreation area. Perhaps signage can be improved at points where the paths enter the course and at the perimeter with the recreation ground. This might also be a contributing factor to some damage to 2 greens which appeared to be vandalised rather than diseased. These stick out because the others are very good and smooth. Like the course overall, they are good for lesser players to develop skills by being generally flat, but are small enough to be challenging targets for longer players. Holes 1, 4 and 8 run alongside a major road so it isn\'t peaceful at these points, but means accessibility is good by road including a well-served bus route from Nottingham city centre. Practice green, chipping are and driving net allow for a thorough warm-up.

Good value for money

Played on a wet day. Challenging in the rough as grown up. Greens slow. Overall good value for money and would come back for another round.

Played the course just after a biblical downpour of rain. The fairways handled it very well. Greens had standing water but nothing could be done about that. We had to play off 'mats' which are fine however charging £3.50 feels a con. No mention of it on the website prior to booking which turned a £15 round into £18.50. Either include it in the round fee initially or hand them out for free.

Other than that a good testing, undulating course.

Mr

Course in good condition but greens slow due to overnight rain. The staff were pleasant and the food was to a good standard. Excellent course for winter as drainage is superb. No standing water despite heavy rain.

Lovely little club,

Variety of holes and terrain, excellent greens. Course being allowed to grow beyond 2nd cut so accuracy and plenty of balls essential. Temperament testing !!!
