Valspar Championship Preview & Picks

Valspar ChampionshipWe are this week assessing the golf betting opportunities in the field for the Valspar Championship, taking place at Innisbrook Resort, Florida

Innisbrook (Copperhead Course) is a 7,340 yard par 71 and ranked as the 30th most difficult course out of 49 on tour in 2012. However, last year’s winner (Streelman) only needed a total of -10 to bring home the trophy. The key this week is competent driving, as without accuracy (particularly) shots would be dropped too regularly to win. Also of huge interest is the fact that of Streelman’s winning total of -10 he was -9 on par 5’s – clearly strength on the par 5’s is going to be advantageous here.

Players to watch...

Will MacKenzie (66/1) ranks 19th for total driving and 13th for par 5 birdie or better.

Jordan Spieth (20/1) in 2013 ranked 8th for total driving and 4th for eagles per hole.

Robert Garrigus (100/1) ranks 24th for total driving and 14th for par 5 birdie or better.

Boo Weekley (100/1) ranks 6th for total driving and last year ranked 29th for par 5 birdie or better.

Kevin Streelman (55/1) ranks 2nd for total driving and 7th for eagles per hole.

John Huh (250/1) finished last season ranked 38th for total driving…long shot!
