7 Year Old Golfer Makes Incredible Hole in One

By: | Tue 06 Aug 2024

Have you ever recorded a hole-in-one during a round of golf? It's arguably the ultimate milestone in the game, a rare achievement that you will never forget, but what makes them special is not just how elusive they are, it's also how unexpected those glorious moments can be.

Earlier this year, we shared the story of Steve Cheshire of The Ashley Wood Golf Club in Dorset, who waited 45 years for his first hole-in-one, only for a second ace to remarkably come a little over a week later.

But it's fair to say that seven-year-old Walter Hall didn't have to wait that long for his magical moment. On the same day that his favourite golfer Scottie Scheffler claimed Olympic Gold in Paris, Walter was playing at The Ross on Wye Golf Club, when he stood on the tee of (ironically enough) the seventh hole and aced his shot of 111 yards for something that was clearly written in the stars.

Son of Director of Golf, Tim, Walter has been getting into the game through the seven-stage junior coaching programme established by his father's School of Golf.

Walter has also been part of the Golf Foundation GolfSixes team, but this was his first full nine holes, and what a way to mark your debut.

His scorecard for his round read; 5, 6, 6, 7, 8, 11, 1, 5, 5. That ONE will stand out forevermore.

Afterwards, Walter made his way back to the clubhouse to a packed crowd cheering his name before enjoying a celebratory pizza party with his friends.

However, ever the keen sportsman, when asked by his father how it felt to make that hole-in-one, Walter responded: "Well, daddy, it feels amazing, but can we play another nine holes after we finish!"

It's something that Walter and Tim will never forget, and we hope that you, whether young or old, will feel inspired by his achievement and believe that perhaps your next hole-in-one (or maybe even your first!) will be coming soon.
