Justin Rose to Sponsor Seven Event Women's Series
Former world number one Justin Rose and wife Kate have provided their name and financial support to help launch the Justin Rose Ladies Series, which will offer British women professional golfers the opportunity to compete in seven events played over the next eight weeks, starting with a one-day tournament at Brockenhurst Manor on June 18.
Reported by The Daily Telegraph, 2016 Olympic Gold Medalist, Rose felt compelled to intervene after reading about the efforts of Ladies European Tour star Liz Young and club-fitter Jason MacNiven to run their own schedule of events, with LET players struggling due to the uncertainty of the coronavirus pandemic. Now with the injection of finances - believed to be around £35,000 - and the sponsorship of the 2013 U.S. Open winner behind it, the Ladies Series is set to be broadcast on Sky Sports, a significant boost for professionals desperately looking for somewhere to play.
"I am keenly aware that I now have the opportunity to go back to work and compete on the PGA Tour [at Colonial Country Club] but this is not the same for the ladies and some junior tours as well," Rose told the Telegraph.
"I am sad that the Ladies European Tour has been suffering so badly and doesn't really have a start date yet from what I know. To me this seems somewhat unfair my wife Kate and I felt there was an opportunity to step up and help.
Kate and I are excited to host the Rose Ladies Series - over multiple great courses this summer in England ????????????????????????????

"The prize money is modest because it is me throwing in some money and then the ladies are paying an entry fee and being able to play for a pot. We wanted to give them the opportunity to play and to be ready for when the opportunities arise later in the summer."
Kate Rose, formerly an international gymnast, said: "It is so important for the visibility of ladies' golf that they can play at good courses and on TV because they need to be out there to both attract sponsors and keep their current sponsors happy as well as allowing more people to get to know who they are."
