Alternative Winter Golf Apparel Brands
Article by Golfshake Ambassador Matt Holbrook
As the nights are drawing in and the temperatures start to drop, I decided to take a look around to see what winter golf apparel is available in order to get me through until the warmer times.
I know there is a ton of great apparel available from the big guys such as PUMA, Callaway, Galvin Green et all, but I’ve decided to take a closer look at some of the smaller golf brands that are offering the hardy winter golfers exceptional quality and an excellent price.
First up it’s a brand we looked at the start of 2018 – Walrus Apparel - and has since gone from strength to strength, growing its social media presence and boasts an extensive range that includes Windstopper jackets, ½ zip and ¼ zip jackets and pullovers and jumpers.
A personal favourite is the range of gilets, in particular the Brandon Padded Gilet.
Another brand I have watched closely over the past few months is Par73 Apparel. An impressive young brand growing, again utilising social media interaction to engage with consumers in order to deliver an all-round experience that covers both quality and price point.
The brand is the brainchild of Aaron Waterhouse and he tells the story of why Par73 exists.
“I created the brand because golf is so expensive, really expensive!! When you take into consideration membership fees, green fees, travel, equipment, clothing and the social side to the sport you are looking at potentially 100’s of pounds a month. So, I wanted to make a brand that was stylish, subtle and high quality but without the expensive price tag."
As well as some superbly designed polo’s, Par 73 also offers accessories and range wear.
If it’s a modern look that is wearable both on and off the golf course, then you could try Bunker Mentality. They claim that: “Our clothing has a strong modern and fashion-forward spirit that can be worn from 1st tee to last orders,” and this is probably what keep golfers coming back.
Again, their extensive range does cover all weather type, but with this being a winter-based guide it was a wind jacket – The Puffer Caddy Tech Hoodie Wind Jacket – that really caught our eye and something that definitely wouldn’t look out of place on or off the golf course.
A final inclusion is more geared to women golfers. Sabbot Headwear offer a superb range of knitted hats as seen below. The team at Sabbot believe there is no place in fashion real fur, so all products have only Genuine Faux Fur pom poms.
Again, the styles and range on offer are extremely popular with golfers and would look amazing both on and off the course they would also make for a perfect gift!
