Disney golf
If you want to play a course that was designed by Mickey Mouse and built by Donald Duck, then get your crampons on and grab an oxygen mask! Should have been left as goat country…….a waste of time! One to avoidReviewer Rating

One of the most enjoyable courses I have ever played
I had heard good things about Ombria from a member of my club but I was blown away by the course; we've been playing golf in the Algarve and Costa del Sol for over 10 years and this is probably the best course we've played. Our groups was a mix of handicaps (2 up to 27) but we all played from the back "58" tees and everyone coped with the forced carries. The front nine is an exhilarating rollercoaster ride of golf, starting with back to back par 5s where you have to cross water hazards twice (the 2nd is particularly exacting), followed by a 50 foot drop to the 3rd fairway. Two par 3 holes follow (one with another 50 foot drop from the tee) then another par 5, a par 3 and then two tough par 4 holes at 8 and 9. Hole 9 is a beast. The back nine has a lot less water but the elevation changes and carful tree placement continue the excitement but it is more forgiving and more scoreable than the front nine. Condition was near perfect from tee, through fairway and onto the greens. It is not a cheap round of golf and there are no practice facilities other than a putting green but it is simply a must play golf course in the area. One criticism off the course is the cost of the food in the clubhouse. It is not cheap and we were disappointed to find the bar closed when we finished playing at 6.50pm. But that should not detract from an amazing golf course.

Great fun!
What an interesting and enjoyable course Ombria is! The first hole offers an elevated tee on a Par 5 with spectacular views and an inviting driving hole to start your round. The rest of the 9 is woven in to the spectacular valley with some truly magnificent golf holes. The back 9 is more open, and really gives you a different experience, green and inviting, but be careful it still has a bite!I really enjoyable course, although the only downside was the greens had had a lot of traffic and were a little scared as a result.

Ombria
Did not like the design of this course. 1st hole you Tee off from an elevated windy position, it’s a real danger to players coming back down the other way The front holes are a gimmick, playing from high lofted positions hitting down to small greens, sounds fun but was a very poor layout, back nine was nice but overall not impressive. They must have spent an absolute fortune on building the complex and course, so it’s a shame. Go to the Algarve every year to play, unlikely to return to Ombia course though.Reviewer Rating

A superstar in the making
We played Ombria Golf Course at the start of September 2023. The course hadn't been open for very long but I was surprised and impressed with it's condition. Our two ball didn't have clubs, and we were able to hire a set each (taylormade). The staff were very helpful and friendly as soon as we arrived. Whilst the club is still finishing work to the clubhouse, the course is open and would appear to get good local traffic. The scenery is fantastic. Set in two valleys allowing some spectacular elevation changes and vistas across the course. The course is still bedding in, there were a few soft patches around and the greens though quick did feel a little sandy underfoot. We saw greenkeeping staff wander the course repairing divots and generally maintaining the course throughout the day. Even so, we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. I'd recommend adding this place to your list if you're visiting the Algarve for golf. In another year or so this course will have waiting lists for weeks if not months. A real superstar in the making.Reviewer Rating
