What the club says: With spectacular views of the River Clyde and the Kilpatrick Hills beyond, the new 18-hole Earl of Mar championship course at Mar Hall offers a five star golf experience close to Glasgow. It was designed by respected golf course architect, Dave Thomas, who is best known for his work at The Belfry in England, plus San Roque and La Manga in Spain.
Already, the Earl of Mar gives the impression of a well-established course shaped around 250 year old sweet chestnut and beech trees, with strategically placed bunkers providing a challenge throughout your round.

Recently changed hands with much need investment the course does need a fair bit of work on the greens and bunkers but I'm sure the new team will have it back to its best in know time

Exceptional course for time of year
For the time of year this course was exceptional condition you can see where work is being done mats placed where ground is wet. Rough still steals and hides your ball so keep out. Definitely a course to put on your must play. Paid to play other courses that weren’t as good as this even in summer.(Round played: Oct 2019 - Score: 94 Handicap: 24.2)

Played this course every year since it has opened in 2010 and in my opinion just gets better with maturity. I played it again on 22/10/2019 to see how it was standing up to our Scottish weather and was more than happy at the condition of the course for the time of year.Reviewer Rating

Beautiful course on the Clyde estuary
The course runs along the south bank of the river Clyde below the Erskine bridge. A beautiful undulating parkland layout plays its full length off any tee. The course is well maintained throughout. Trees and hazards are strategically placed to make you think about each shot. Off fairway the first cut can be a ball deep and two metres or so further is a ‘reload’. A hidden gem worth visiting for the views as well as the golf.(Round played: Jul 2019 - Score: 102 Handicap: 26.5)

Brilliant course, well worth the money
suited my golf style, big hitters can leave them themselves an awkward shot. Ideal for me lol. Great layout although it had rained for a few days course not affected(Round played: Apr 2019 - Score: 97 Handicap: 26.4)
