What the club says: Queenwood Golf Club is the work of David McLay Kidd, the son of the legendary greenkeeper at Gleneagles, Jimmy Kidd. Kidd Jnr is one of the rising stars of golf course design and was recently unveiled as the man who will design the new No.7 course in St Andrews for the St Andrews Links Trust.
Queenwood opened a couple of years ago and has been praised for its demanding test of golf. The key elements that enabled a new heathland course to be created were the classic shaping of greens and tees, rectangular tees lay in diagonals and the large greens that sit seamlessly in their environment with rolling contours and draped edges. This is, quite simply, a gem.

Stunning
A dream course to be invited to play although the green are just impossible - but this does not deter from a very special place and lovely course.(Round played: Jun 2020 - Score: 89 Handicap: 5.6)

Millionaires' Golf - literally.
This place is exclusive and can only be played at the invitation of a member. The price of membership is astronomical but to the man (or woman) who has everything, the ability to play golf on this very good layout, always in great condition with marvellous practice facilities and five star catering is a bonus.Reviewer Rating

It’s interesting to compare the course to its close neighbour Foxhills.
Foxhills has 2 very nice courses but you do get the impression that a big chunk of forest and natural heath land was flattened when they built them, you don’t get this impression at Queenwood, the course seems to flow through and blend into its environment, I’m sure this isn’t the case but you get the impression that very little heavy construction took place and the course was just plotted out using the natural terrain that was already there.
It would have been a 10/10 but with all the bad weather we have had it is struggling in places, a few boggy areas and quite a lot of GUR. So I can only give the course 9/10, 2 months ago I expect it would have been perfect in late spring it must be stunning.
We played off the Blue Tees which makes the course challenging but not impossible for a high handicapper like me, I didn’t play my best ( I was woeful for the first 9 holes) but if I had a could have played to my handicap.
Greens were amazing despite the weather not as quick as expected but very true and fair and with lots of subtle breaks and very soft, never seen such deep pitch marks.
It was the first time I’ve played with a Caddy, and I was very well looked after, my score would have been much higher if it hadn’t been for his great advise, especially on the greens.
Facilities off the course are 1st class, the practice range has Pro V1 practice balls! A very nice chap cleans your shoes before and after your round! It’s a pretty special place, designed for people who want golf perfection and can afford to pay for it. Hopefully I will be invited back again can’t wait.
