What the club says: The Dyke provides a first class test of golf, measuring 6605 yards from the tournament tees, 6297 yards from the visitors' tees and 5515 yards from the ladies' tees. As with most downland courses, the degree of difficulty varies according to the strength and direction of the wind. With a stiff sea breeze blowing up from the Channel, the wide fairways often seem narrow and the strategically placed bunkers play their part.

Among the attractive points of the layout of the course is the contrast between the long hard-hitting holes on the western side of the ridge and the holes of a more adventurous type on the eastern side.

Society Day in November.

I run a society with over 100 members and I try to provide course local and affordable, but also playable and inviting. I must admit that The Dyke fits pretty much every requirement to suit the members needs. Because it is downland the under foot condition was excellent despite poor weather the previous day. I have always enjoyed the challenging layout, with several par 5's early on, along with some difficult par 3's. The staff were friending and helpful and the breakfast we had before hand was of very good quality. It was slightly more than I would have liked to pay, but the overall day was great. I would recommend this for a society trip or just somewhere to play in the winter time.

Foresters Golf Society Meeting

We had a great day out at the Dyke Golf Club in November with 32 society members attending. The course was in fantastic condition for the time of year and a credit to the greenkeeping staff. Catering was superb with one of the best meals we have had at a society meeting. The restaurant and bar staff were very friendly and helpful as were the office so would highly recommend this venue for golf societies .We will definitely be coming back to the Dyke again soon.

We held a society day this year, which was initially planned for July but was cancelled (unbelievably) due to fog. The staff at the club were so friendly and accommodating, allowing us to cancel and change the date without any issue. We ended up playing late September in glorious sunshine on the South Downs. There are great views from the clubhouse and the course is a real test in the wind. The speed of the greens were brilliant for the time of year and ran very true. The condition of the course was some of the best I've seen in Sussex through the year. I would highly recommend hosting a society day at The Dyke GC, so much so we are due to return for 2025.

Open & enjoyable but not the Braid we were expecting

Lovely setting & great views & reminiscent of Braid on the back 9 at Dunstable but TBH while not finding fault with the the course, how well it had been kept, the greens the fairways, while the views were marvellous, the main defence of the course is the wind & we?d been expecting more Braid like features such as doglegs etc but it was so open it almost became a little bland & not enough distinctive feature holes. On another day when the wind is blowing I'm sure it's far more of a challenge .

Mixed open August 2024

The course is in magnificent condition. The greens are quick, but not crazy quick, and they are running true. The recent enhancements to the bunkers, as well as the contouring make the course a pleasure to play. We had fantastic weather, the breeze was not too strong, and the buffet after the round was absolutely amazing actually. Great value for £45 per player. Will hopefully play in the opens again next year.

A wonderful course

What an amazing course! We hosted our inaugural charity golf day at Dyke Golf Club, we couldn't have picked a better place! The staff were amazing, the food was wonderful, and all who took part were delighted with the course. We very much look forward to holding our gold day here again!

Captains Golf Day

We had 120 captains and past captains hold their golf day at The Dyke. It was a brilliant day, Bradley and the rest of the team couldn't have looked after us any better. From the moment we arrived, they were there to look after us and make sure that a busy day ran smoothly. All the players commended the club on the condition of the course, the greens were smooth and true. The course itself, is an outstanding example of a downland course, it provides a variety of challenges, and the views are stunning. As for the food this was excellent, proper golfers fare. The easiest way to judge how well the day went is to see if they book again, we are already booked in for next year. Can't recommend this course highly enough.

The Dyke is my home course. Great drainage and always in good condition. Quick green and a good challenge. Starts with 3 par 5s in first 5 holes. A difficult course when the wind is blowing.

The Dyke Golf club

Nestled at the top of the South Downs overlooking Brighton/Hove and the sea, this lovely golf course is worth a visit. Despite the recent rains, the course drains superbly and the fairways and greens were firm enough.

Great test of golf

I recently had the pleasure of playing at the stunning golf course located in the south of England, near the coast, and I can't say enough about the wonderful experience I had. The combination of picturesque coastal views and the well-maintained course made it an unforgettable day.

The location itself was a sight to behold. As you teed off, you could see the glistening waters of the ocean in the distance, and the sound of seagulls added to the coastal ambiance. The natural beauty of the area created a serene and calming atmosphere that made every swing of the club even more enjoyable.

The course was in impeccable condition. The fairways were lush and perfectly manicured, and the greens were fast and true. It was evident that the staff put a great deal of effort into maintaining the course. The bunkers were well-placed and added a nice challenge to the game, without being overly punishing.

One of the aspects that truly impressed me was the layout of the course. It was challenging enough to keep things interesting for experienced golfers, yet forgiving enough for those still honing their skills. The variety of holes, with some featuring blind shots and others taking full advantage of the coastal terrain, made each hole a unique and exciting experience.

The clubhouse and facilities were also top-notch. The staff was friendly and accommodating, and the post-round meal was delicious. It was a great way to relax and chat about the highlights of the day while enjoying the panoramic views of the coast.

In conclusion, this golf course in the south of England, near the coast, is a gem. It offers a fantastic golfing experience with breathtaking scenery and a well-maintained course. I highly recommend it to golfers of all skill levels, and I can't wait to return for another round in this beautiful coastal setting.

First time round here. Lovely course in good condition. Plenty of variety including a few blind tee shots. Greens were decent. Rough is no joke when trying to play out of it. Very welcoming at the club. Would like to play it again in future.
