What the club says: Best Western Plus Ullesthorpe Court Hotel and Golf Club is situated in the heart of England and sits in an enviable location.
The championship length 18-hole golf course with challenging contours and water features and well renowned greens is 6376 yards, par-72. Established in 1976 it looks and feels mature beyond its years.
As you would expect from a championship layout, Ullesthorpe is demanding in length but many tee shots allow you to open your shoulders slightly, before an accurate second shot to ensure you are the right side of the pin. Water hazards feature on 5 holes, watch out also for the disused railway embankment which provides the teeing area for 2 great par 3's. This all leads up to a most beautiful finishing par 5 hole with your 3rd shot played over water to an inviting green.

Decent hotel course
This was my club's third visit for our Captain's Weekend Away., the two prior visits were in 2010 and 2011. Since 2011, the first has been changed from a very difficult par 5 to an easier (but not easy) par 4, as some of the land was sold off for houses. The two opening holes are therefore much different than they were, but have blended in well, and make for an easier start to your round.Greens were in fairly good condition, but were quite slow. They do though have some challenging slopes on them, which made for some higher scores (low stableford scores) amongst our group of 30+ golfers of varying standards.
The fairways were in good condition, but some lacked clear definition from where the 'rough' started. The rough itself was kept fairly short, so all in all not difficult to find wayward shots.
Bunkers looked good, but of the 3 bunker shots I was faced with over the weekend, 2 had little sand under the ball, although the other was OK. I didn't hear any other complaints, so maybe I was just unlucky.
The large practice green was cordoned off, although I believe they still allow it to be used for lessons. The putting green was quite small, and these two matters reflect my score for the 'practice facilities'.
The pro started off our group, although he quickly realised we were all club members, capable of stickinig to a starting schedule, but he was also very helpful over the course of the 3 days, as were the staff in the well stocked pro-shop. Would like to have bought a better souvenir of the visit than a small (non-magnetic) marker, but these and pitch-mark repairers were all the 'small stuff' onoffer. Nice selection of polo shirts on sale if that's your thing.
Over all, I like the course which has some challenging holes like the dogleg stroke index one, and a couple of drivable par 4s for the big hitters. Interesting par 5s for the long hitters to reach in two, including thel ast hole, finishing over water with a two tier green.
Obviously we stayed in the hotel, but also ate in the clubhouse, and the food was very good at both parts of the facility. Didn't actually use the swimming pool or snooker room at all this visit.

Good round!
Hadn't played at Ullesthorpe for 8+ years and throughly enjoyed our returnCourse was in very good condition. Greens were very slow against the other courses we play but also we found them difficult to read. A good challenge!

Ideal venue for Stay & Play
Stayed for 3 nights and 4 rounds with 11 mates (annual Society event). Great weather afforded us the pleasure of a challenging golf course with plenty of variety for high and low handicappers alike. Accommodation better than adequate and food and bar onsite very good. We would entertain going again in a setting that seems far removed from the industrial hinterland you travel through to access the location.Reviewer Rating

Good Resort Course
Played as it is midway between where me and my golf buddy live. Paid £40 each and it was well worth the price. It’s probably not the hardest course in the world but it presents a fair challenge to high handicap players and I suspect that would also be the case for mid-handicap players. Food and drink is very reasonably priced.Reviewer Rating

Excellent throughout
The course was varied with yardage from the yellows ranging from 120-500+. Some holes had water hazards, some doglegs, some trees, some uphill, downhill with raised or sunken greens and tee boxes. The course was extremely well maintained with the rough being cut short enough so that my party of three lost very few balls over the two days we played here.
The course doesn’t have the next hole always adjacent to the one you’re playing, but the signposting was very good, so no issues there either.
My only point of improvement would be that there isn’t a hole guide or map of the holes on the back of the scorecard. There was one instance where we played a par 5 and almost hit another long shot before realising the green we needed to aim for was hidden behind a pond.
We stayed at the hotel on site and I must say the service was impeccable.

Hit and Miss
Played with my society at the course yesterday. And these are my thoughts the course given all th rain that we have had was in great condiction green were suprisingly quick the fairways were in good order too. The bunkers in general were also in good shape apart from 1 or 2. Now onto the course there are a lot of blind shots due to the dog legs on the holes which with the wind oin the day I played proved to be very challenging. Onto the club house which was adiquite very noisy to the point our society couldn't hear what was being said at our presentation no dining room seperate to the bar which was a shame the food was good rather than excellent but a good expirience all round I have to sayReviewer Rating
