What the club says: Parkland course designed and laid out by Willie Park, with two holes running along the banks of the River Gala. Peaceful and scenic setting. Golfers will find it testing but fair with tight fairways and small greens. A challenge to all levels of golfer.

Borders gem
We played here in a Texas Scramble Competition and enjoyed the test! The course is split into two distinct halves: the older part of the course is almost completely flat and quite open if you happen stray onto the wrong fairway: the newer half involves quite a bit of rise and fall in the terrain, while offering spectacular views of the surrounding countryside. The greens are firm and consistent, the course is generally presented in good condition and you always receive a warm and friendly welcome. I would recommend this course to anyone who hasn't tried it.Reviewer Rating

Good
Played this course on a nice day in August. Course was in pretty good condition. Some of the greens were a little sandy but overall they were pretty good.Challenging course, there are lots of tactically placed trees which cause trouble. Probably best booking ahead for a buggy as it’s pretty hilly and tough going in places.

Happy to Return
Another fine trip to Gala. Course in good nick apart from couple of tees requiring grass cutting. Pin positions also tad tricky, seemingly never any more than couple of metres from either front edge or back edge of the green. Perhaps saving the majority of the grass on the greens for another day. Did not spoil enjoyment of a good day out.(Round played: Jul 2019 - Score: 90 Handicap: 14.4)

Great Course
Some time since I'd played, 9 years in fact, but that's too long for such a great course. Some fabulous holes, great elevated tees on occasion, and some holes which you need to get some advice from a member, one or two can be quite quirky. All in all, a great club and well worth a visit, staff and members are all really friendly as well, what more could you want. Nearly forgot, stunning scenery too!(Round played: May 2018 - Score: 84 Handicap: 12.7)

While the fairways aren't wide, there isn't a huge amount of trouble that will stop you from at least finding your ball. The course is generally in good condition, although a few of the tees loooked in need of some TLC.
The clubhouse isn't huge but it is very friendly a welcoming, and I was indebted to the guy behind the bar who lent me an umbrella for my round. You certainly don't get that at a lot of clubs.
Lovely course, lovely views.
