What the club says: Set in the picturesque grounds of Eltham Lodge, Royal Blackheath Golf Club's historical ties to the game of golf are undoubted. After nearly 100 years at the Eltham site, the look and feel of golf course is being transformed. Through a exciting yearly program of investment, that will incorporate the re-design of all bunkers, teeing grounds and restoring a more natural, parkland landscape, Royal Blackheath will return to the features and designs laid out by James Braid in his original design. Modernising the challenge, whilst restoring the course's intended layout, makes a round of golf with us a must for new guests or returning golfers.

Posh
Great place, fantastic club house, pretty posh. You get what you pay for - the green fees are expensive but worth it.Reviewer Rating

A little gem in London
On my 1st visit to this course I wasn't overly impressed. Having palyed there a few times now it has grown on me. The front 9 is fairly flat and the back 9 has more interest. With hidden greens and a few hills. The course was in great condition with excellent greens. It's a gem of course especially if you live in the local vicinity. The food and drink is reasonably priced with a fair selection of stuff. Can't fault the welcome, everyone is always friendly.Reviewer Rating

Blackheath
The course is in very good condition both fairways and greens. Greens are pretty fast so beware. Needs more sand in the bunkers of which there are a lot. Some long holes but mostly flat and not too much danger. The rough though not long is dangerous. Enjoyablegolf course with plenty of parking and Grade 1 listed clubhouse and golf museum.

Testing little course
I've bee invited to play here twice. The 1st time I left feeling deflated as the fairways were in poor condition and the greens looked tired. In hind sight that maybe because of the deluge of people playing after lockdown. My 2nd visit I was pleasantly surprised to see the fairways and greens in excellent condition.
The course is littered with bunkers, ditches and punishing rough. Would reccomend some course playing strategy

great set up..
Not played here for many years, the redesign and work done makes it a much more enjoyable course to play.. greens a bit wooly and bunkers need some love ( and there are lots of them!) but Covid has affected the up keep..Played with a member , very costly otherwise

Expected better for the green fee
Well kept but it it’s a pretty boring piece of land so it gets repetitive. Also the least friendly of the few royal clubs I’ve played.Reviewer Rating

A lovely course in the middle of SE London!
The course was in superb condition. I've played there four times now and you can really see the hard work of the past few years on the course paying dividends. The green keepers have done a great job. Very friendly bar staff and the playing members made us feel very welcomeReviewer Rating

Wow
Fabulous setting and a fabulous course.Oozing history in the clubhouse, but not at all stuffy. A friendly welcome and top notch service.
The course is visually spectacular. The fairways are manicured. The greens are slick. (The first green looks like it needs some TCL but after that they are superb.) Just don't go in the long grass, it's ultra punishing.

Updated Braid classic
Invested wisely in strategic repositioning of drive bunkers to provide a good test of risk reward decision making. Do't be fooled by a par 71, 6300 card, the well guarded greens compliment a strong course, with an unrivalled historic club house and museum of artefacts that were the origin of many everyday concepts, Medal, Open, Claret Jug ! Well worth a visit.Reviewer Rating
