What the club says: The course has been established for over 100 years and has always provided a challenge in a beautiful parkland setting. The holes meander 'on and on' as opposed to 'up and down' in a secluded way, framed by mature indigenous trees and wander back to the fully modernised traditional style Clubhouse.

Not worth it

We played on a county card, £45 so not too bad. Staff in pro shop and clubhouse very friendly and an excellent £8 breakfast. But the course was dull. Lots of dead straight 400 yard par 4s, only one of the par 3s was interesting and the only hole with any real character was the 18th. It didn't help that the greens had been sanded that morning. It helped even less that a member of the slow 4ball in front of us pointed out rudely on the 18th tee that my shirt wasn't tucked in, which is "not allowed" (the dress code says preferably tucked in, I hadn't even noticed it had come untucked). Pompous idiots like this do their clubs no favours, it creates a hostile environment from nowhere and for no purpose. But apart from that, the full green fee is £90 and it's simply not a good enough course to justify that.

Nice course but not friendly

Played here mid week and it’s a reasonable course in good condition but not very friendly. Almost as if they didn’t want visitors! We had booked on a County card rate and were told £30 but on arrival was told that was incorrect it was £40. - no apology just take it or leave it.
We had played here before and even then the clubhouse staff were not friendly.

Thought the condition of the greens are excellent but the fairways and rough were a touch long, probably due to how wet it has been. Overall really good test.
