What the club says: Visitors are warmly welcomed at Ripon, where golf has been enjoyed since 1908 in peaceful and tranquil rural surroundings.
Golfers can look forward to playing a picturesque parkland course in wonderful condition all year round and enjoy magnificent views of the North Yorkshire Moors, the city's famous Cathedral, and surrounding countryside. After the round visitors can enjoy the Clubhouse and new Balcony offering views over 4 greens.
Ripon City Golf Club is one of North Yorkshire’s finest courses and lies just outside the ancient cathedral city, just a few miles north of Harrogate and a short drive from the beautiful Yorkshire Dales.

Very nice but damp
What I mean by damp is that fairways being cut and leaving grass cuttings everywhere (fairways) Rough was clogging and ball was sitting making it very difficult. No run on fairways but ball was not getting dirty!! Green slowish Tees very good. Played very differently than 5 years agoReviewer Rating

Course in "ok" condition for this time of the year, some nice holes. Front 9 pretty hilly but back 9 flatter.

Great course, some greens under repair on the front 9 but overall in good condition. A comp did start on 16 when I came up to it. Which slowed my play.

Great shortish course
Game of 2 halves. Started with Par 3, then went across road and played fairly old 8 holes. Plenty of character and ravines. Back to the other side from 11th. A newer half with not so much elevation and character but more distance. A bit too samey but overall a good test.(Round played: May 2019 - Score: 93 Handicap: 16.5)

Very Tricky Course
Me and the wife played here in June 2018. After playing the first we wandered over to the nearest tee and played down that hole. Mistake number one. This was the 10th or 11th I forget. So we're now playing the back nine. Sure we should have looked but hey ho. So beware the 2nd is THROUGH THE WALL!!!! Thing is we're now playing the easy bit. Standard stuff. Parkland. Nice greens. 14th is a nice water hole. So now to the front nine. Hell on earth. Up hill down dale. Shots over ravines. Blind tee shots to lord knows where. If you don't know where to go you're stuffed. Not the place for a nice pleasant walk round. Lost too many balls. Sorry guys if you can't play golf to a reasonable standard, stay away. This is a tough place to play. Lovely clubhouse. Great balcony. One more thing. DO NOT PLAY IN A BRIGHT COLOURED TOP. We were covered, and I mean covered in little black flies all the way round. We were like Pig Pen from Charlie Brown (look him up). Black clouds of the damned things following us around. Was not nice at all.Reviewer Rating
