What the club says: Opened in 1923 by HRH Prince of Wales, Richmond Park Golf Course was heralded as a place where ‘artisans and royalty are equally welcome’. 90 years on and Richmond Park is now truly fit for a king, following a £3million improvements programme by Glendale Golf.

The impressive venue includes a brand new clubhouse, designed to literally blend in with nature with a roof made using acid grassland from the Park. The eco-friendly building features an open plan coffee shop, bar & restaurant. Floor to ceiling to glazing provides uninterrupted views across the golf courses, against the spectacular backdrop of Richmond Park’s 2500 acres.

The Duke’s and Prince’s Courses reopened in June 2014 following a major overhaul to improve the quality and layout of their 36 holes. Furthermore, a 15-bay Driving Range is now open, which is perfect for golfers wanting to improve and those who are new to the game.

Short but good

Played the Princes. Par 68 5366 yards. Pretty good condition for a municipal course.

Great value for money

Unbeatable value for money when it comes to a public course in London. Fairways and greens in top condition, roughs are tricky, bring plenty of balls as they are easy to lose even if you're just off the fairway.

Duke's course is the one to play - The pace of play on Prince's is awful, and its a bit too simple and easy. Go for an early tee time, even on a weekday, otherwise you risk getting stuck in a queue.

Very good for the price

For probably the most reasonably accessible course both distance and price wise for London, this is a very good golf course. 2 courses, Princes and Dukes, both relatively flat but offer a decent challenge to the golfer. Rough can be intense in the summer yes, but its nothing too extreme like other reviews make out. Green fees, snacks and drinks are reasonable. Pace of play could be monitored better by staff/marshals at busy times.

Richmond Park's Princes Course offers a serene retreat for golfers amidst the natural beauty of its namesake parkland. With its undulating fairways and strategic bunkering, the course presents a challenging yet rewarding experience for players of all levels. Each hole boasts stunning views of the park's lush landscapes, creating a tranquil ambiance that enhances the overall enjoyment of the round. Despite its proximity to urban life, the Princes Course feels like a secluded oasis, providing a welcome escape from the hustle and bustle of city living. For a memorable day of golf surrounded by nature's splendor, Richmond Park delivers in every aspect.

I teed off early (8.48) and the pace was ok, but as i finished it was really busy. However, the course was in great shape after the rain

Good Value

Courses (Dukes and Princes) both in remarkably good condition considering how popular they are. Green fees are very reasonable and the clubhouse has lovely views over the courses and the Royal Park. The staff are very friendly and helpful.

Poorly maintained

This is my first review for golfshake. I have a pretty high tolerance for shoddy golf courses but my recent experience at Richmond Park (Dukes) compelled me to write this. The course is very poorly maintained at the moment. There’s a difference between growing the rough up and just neglecting to cut the grass.
I lost balls in rough that is less than 5 paces off the green on two holes, including the rough between two greenside bunkers. We’re not talking a wild miss here, 10 feet right of a tiny green on a 200 yard par 3 and the ball is gone. There’s rough like this all around the course and it makes it pretty unplayable. I have played this course many times and it’s never been like this. Avoid, or don’t use premium balls.

Two courses with contrasting characters and degrees of difficulty. Both incredibly well maintained for public courses and reasonably priced too. There's a pleasant clubhouse which serves a wide selection of beverages and food. The clubhouse also has an outdoor area edged by a large pond. There's a wide variety of wildlife to see both around the pond and on the courses. There's also a 20 bay driving range along with chipping and bunker practice areas. I like it enough to be a member the club based there.

Really good Public Play & Play by Glendale.

Glendale golf have done an excellent job of improving and maintaining the two courses at Richmond Park. Greens were really good for a public course and only one or two tee boxes need work. Not the most interesting of layouts but well worth the price and regular visits.
