What the club says: A truly memorable championship links golf course situated on a beautiful stretch of South Wales coastline set within the Kenfig National Nature Reserve. Amidst the valleys and towering sand dunes you are treated to panoramic views that allow you to take in The Bristol Channel, the Gower Peninsula, Sker House and the magnificent Welsh Mountains. Separated into two loops of nine holes, the course carries the unique dual personality of two of golfs most famous architects, Harry Colt and Philip Mackenzie Ross.

A tale of two nines
P&K is a traditional links course with two very different nines.Whilst the front nine is a relatively pedestrian affair, the 8th & 9th holes are both great downhill holes, where you get some great views. Things really start to get interesting from 11 on, where you move into and through the huge dunes, which are both dramatic and spectacular. The holes here are some of the best I have ever played, but they are, unfortunately, in short supply. Otherwise, the course is well maintained and it represents a stern challenge, especially in the wind.
Unfortunately, there are a roster of ‘spare’ holes, which are utilised in winter. This is save areas of the course that get bogged down in wet weather. I had to play these on my initial visit, which was disappointing at the time; they take the best holes out of play!
I personally wasn’t a fan of the road that splits the two nines in half, which you have to traverse before playing the 10th. I also was’t too keen on the location of the clubhouse, which doesn’t feel very integrated with the course itself, and also sits on a junction between two roads.

Quirky, Fun, Excellent
Really enjoyed P&K. Such a warm wlecome and one of the better layouts I have played. Quirky in places and some really cracking holes that you will have to navigate around. Some of the views are quite spectacular too.Reviewer Rating

Great course
A great course with excellent greens that take some reading to get right. Some course restrictions in being but no adverse effects on the round. The front nine is slightly easier than the back nine. Stunning views across the course. Well worth a visit to enjoy the challenge ahead.Reviewer Rating

Great course
My first time playing here received a warm welcome from the Pro and advice on how to play the course. The tees are immaculate, fairways lacked grass over most of the course, which was a shame as was not in keeping with the rest of the course, the greens were excellent and gave a true fast roll. Lovely run of holes 11-17 through the dunes. Accuracy is key to good score. I feel that a coloured flags system for hole position would be beneficial as the greens are huge a couple of times the first putt was 50ft.(Round played: Aug 2019 - Score: 94 Handicap: 12.6)

Fantastic views on a great golf course, front 9 is higher and the two 9s are totally different with a lot of hazards(Round played: Jul 2019 - Score: 102 Handicap: 12.6)

unwelcoming course and club
The back 9 looks stunning but is not designed to be enjoyed by the likes of me. The margin for error is too small and the penalties too severe - 5 yards from the fairway on many holes and you'll never see the ball again. This is a typical H S Colt design where you stand on too many of the tees without being able to make out where the intended landing area is. One or two holes like that on a course add variety but here it is overdone to the point where the enjoyment is removed. You need to play the course a number of times before you can have fun because you need experience of it to have any idea where you're supposed to be aiming - as if hitting the ball where you're aiming isn't hard enough when you can actually see where you are trying to hit it! I actually hot the ball quite well for most of my round, but the constant inability to make out the target area (particularly difficult where the inner loop of holes crosses the main course causing extra confusion with extra fairways and tee boxes) and a lack of marker posts to offer any visual guidance at all, detracts from the experience. Such a shame as the dunes offer a stunning setting for what could be so much more enjoyable golfing terrain, as it is at many other courses along the welsh coastline. Only the brilliant green complexes redeem the course. they are brilliantly contoured, and the mounds and hollows around the greens provide a much more enjoyable but challenging test of the short game. If only the course offered a similar balance of enjoyment and toughness for the long game. Sadly it is skewed much too far to the tough end of the spectrum to be enjoyable for a 19 handicapper. This appears to suit the club though, as I was made to feel like a second class citizen for booking online as a visitor unaffiliated to any club. Surprise was expressed by the pro and the captain when they learned I am not a member anywhere. Why shouldnt someone who chooses to play at various courses rather than the same one every week be able to conduct themselves appropriately on a golf course! I was made to feel that they thought I probably would leave divots everywhere and play slowly, because I don't belong to a club, and that they only wanted members of other clubs to play their course, and not just any keen golfers who are prepared to pay a green fee. Well I certainly won't be rushing back, there are many more enjoyable places to play than here.(Round played: May 2018 - Score: 99 Handicap: 19.5)

Brilliant
What a great course!Front nine, reasonably gentle parkland. Back nine, breath-taking links.
The wind will play a part all the way round, even if it's only a gentle breeze.
Stunning run of holes between 11 and 14. 11 is a superb par 5 which twists off to the left and up the hill. 12 is a 180 par 3 where your driver is probably the best bet if the wind is in your face. 13 is the blindest of blind holes. Send a spotter up front. 14 is at the very top of the course, the views are stunning as is the dog leg.
