What the club says: This challenging par 72, 18-hole golf course measures 6,467 yards off the Tiger Tees and sits in the middle of the Bedfordshire countryside, providing spectacular views of the surrounding villages and woodlands.

30 years ago, course designer Derek Young teamed up with Managing Director Zac Thompson with the vision to create a course through the grounds of the old Manor. Today, , the course is maturing and the holes themselves are becoming increasingly more defined and challenging.

A very good layout in great condition. It could be exceptional if a little more rough was allowed to grow in and approaches and surrounds of the greens were expanded on some holes. Greens were running true with an estimated pace of 8-10 ..
Having played many great golf courses I would put this one up there not only for the visual appeal of the course but the overall feel and ambience of the club . We received such a great welcome and wee advised of the facilities by the charismatic owner/ manager on the reception desk .This feel good factor was also replicated by the bar staff who delivered an excellent pint of ale on completion of our game! Well worth a visit if you are in the area.

Top class, tough greens

A great place to play, so much so that i will be joining. They say if you can put at Pavenham you can put anywhere. USPGA style greens can make a good round seem very ordinary when you get off the greens. Concentrate and approach the greens well!!!

The course is looking in good condition and seems to survived the wet winter well. A member was telling us in the bar after the game that it was the best draining course in the area with very little closure over the winter. Greens were slow but true. They have a new short game area adjacent to the 9th green which we we were told was designed by James Ridyard and will be open to members only. It looked amazing! Overall a very enjoyable day was had and we will definitely put this on our list as one to play again.

Outstanding

We played as a group of visitors on a sunny Wednesday afternoon. The welcome we received from the golf shop staff was first class.
This was also matched by a well presented course whose biggest feature is the undulating and fast greens combined with lovely views of the surrounding Bedfordshire countryside. . We all enjoyed this excellent country club venue and will return in the future.

Well maintained undulating parkland course in Bedfordshire with an interesting layout of 5 par 5s, 8 par 4s and 5 par 3s. The greens are a main feature with tricky slopes and grain making the choice of shot to the green a challenge, but the greens are true. Bunkers were being refilled on the day and declared GUR but the greens staff advised us in advance. The clubhouse, pro shop and greens staff made us feel really welcome on the day and we will certainly play there again.

Good course but slow play.

Very busy in the mornings. Parkland course with holes in all compass directions. Testing par threes. Pace of play makes it difficult for elderly.

The greens were some of the best I have played on in recent years. A real mixture of different levels of undulations. All were firm and fast and looked great.
Rest of the course in very tidy condition.

Worth a visit

First time playing Pavenham since mid 2017. Course is only a few miles from me, and used to be a regular venue when I was playing various County events. Whether they host many County events, I don't know, but the course is still fairly busy, and seems to have lots of members who do not like to let faster groups through. Yet again, I was in a 2 ball, following a 4 ball, and the only way we got through was when they all (4 ladies) went to use the loo after 9 holes, so we took the opportunity to pass them.

Course was looking good, very green after all the rain, but this also meant there was lots of clumps of cut grass lying around, which meant wayward drives occasionally took some finding. Greens have been worked on over the 6 years since I last played here, so that the slopes are not so ridiculous. It also helped that they were slower than usual, although still an acceptable pace. Various winter tees have been added (usually to the side of the grass tees), which has meant the removal of a number of trees which otherwise were ?in the way?. Generally the course was a lot tidier than previously, with paths and bridges having been worked on.

The only downside when we played was that because of a lot of rain in previous weeks, there were a number of areas of standing water, and therefore lots of flying insects. We seemed to be continuously surrounded by gnats!

The bar was quite quiet when we were there. Prices seemed about usual for a golf club, and my playing partner?s wife (who joined us after) was quite impressed not only with the prices, but also the food on offer.
