Decent

Decent for the twilight rate of ?27. Greens are ok, quality of the tee markings was very disappointing (think first cut rough). Wouldn't pay full price green fee.

Never know what to make of Merlin some holes are fab with good layout, others need maintenance work and especially the rough and gist ways just are barely mowed back fairway might as well be rough at times and rough is penal often lose ball as several inches deep and unplayable
Great location and views shame above sometimes let's it down

Worth a visit

This course would be very hard when the wind is blowing, we played in light winds 10 mph and found it hard you need to flight the ball down. Greens was nice and true to put on nice course not to many hills, recommend

Nice course, but could be better

A few greens have suffered due to the recent heatwave. Course could be improved if green staff finished jobs off that they started e.g. bunker on the 2nd has been GUR for months. Some investment required to bring it up to the standard of other courses in the area.

Lawn mower was broken so grass was long, we weren’t informed prior to teeing off, long story short, over priced. Looks like they are used to tourists and taking them for granted. Shame, maybe we didn’t see the course at its best……………don’t take tourists for granted.

Hidden cornish gem

Decent parkland course hidden away near mawgan ports and views of newquay airport and rolling fields
Some challenging holes, some being blind with final stretch easy to get after with a good score. no hospitality to review as picked up scorecard and that was it though has facilities there, decent would return

Not worth the money

Great location and was optimistic to start. Caught in the middle of two fantastic golf courses. A middle price too but not worth ?30. Chose to play this having not played it before. Fairways were OK but could do with a cut. Greens on first 10 were not great. Could do with a cut and more attention.

I've played Merlin 2 or 3 times now in a society, most recently in May. I feel as if the course is coming on leaps and bounds and it just keeps going from strength to strength. Course is always presented well, its very well priced for how good the course is. The clubhouse is neat and tidy and the staff are always helpful and cheerful. Got a driving range so you can practice before your round (if you can call it practicing, more like gearing up for my awful golf). All in all a lovely club I don't know how anyone could moan about the course or the price. Thoroughly looking forward to playing here again in July.

Was down in Cornwall for the week. Played Newquay and Merlin on consecutive days, which really highlighted the difference;
Course variety in holes
Course conditions
Price

Newquay has a elevation and differing holes, Merlin is generally up and backs.Newquays course and greens were good and constant, Merlins had standing water all over the course and even greens!!
Newquay was cheaper, and we were only allowed to use the buggy for 12 holes but had to play full price.
I don't think I have ever been so disappointed in a round of golf.
