What the club says: Machrie Bay is a small but quite interesting nine-hole situated 12 miles from Brodick in the village of Machrie on the south side of Isle of Arran. It is ideal for getting rid of your aches and pains after the long drive up.

Worked for us
Not challenging for me off 28 but perfect for my very occasional golfing brother in law. Quite easy, not too much trouble and in a lovely spot. To keep the peace we only had time for 9 holes which was disproportionately priced at £15 so not great value compared to £20 for 18.Reviewer Rating

Lovely Location
I'd been told by a couple of people to take a trip to Machrie Bay while on Arran, so I imagine that it's recently been in a better condition than it is now. The fairways were pretty wet underfoot after recent heavy rain, which happens at most courses, but the biggest letdown was the amount of moss on the greens. It's a shame because it's in a lovely occasion, and otherwise this is a very pleasant 9 hole course. One thing to be aware of is the 2nd hole, which is not very obvious even once you find the tee (which is also fairly well hidden), so maybe ask someone before you head out. The 9th green is also well hidden, this time on the other side of the road and hidden behind bushes. I guess the clue is in the name of the hole (The Road Hole).

The setting beside the sea in Machrie is superb, looking out towards The Mull of Kintyre.
Well worth a visit-- or several!
