What the club says: Ludlow Golf Club, founded in 1889 is the oldest course in the Union of Shropshire and Herefordshire and still retains many of its original features and charm. Based on sand and gravel this James Braid designed heathland course, often described as an inland links, is one of, if not the driest course in the counties of Shropshire, Herefordshire and Worcestershire. Accuracy and a good short game are the key to good scoring as the course provides a true test of golf for the keen golfer whilst offering golfers of all abilities a good round of golf on a fair course surrounded by the beautiful South Shropshire countryside.

Remarkable how dry the course was
Very impressed with the condition of this golf course considering the amount of rain that had fallen in the few days before we played. The course was very dry, with all tees in use, trolley allowed and the vast majority of main greens in use. The course is quite flat and boarders the Ludlow race course, but has plenty of challenging holes. Overall, a great course for playing in the winter ?? I guess it would be nice in the summer as well.Reviewer Rating

Worth Playing
Played here October 2020Flat course set inside & outside the racecourse although the holes have definition with gorse , trees , bushes etc. .I last played here about 25 years ago so i included this in a golf trip including Church Stretton & Kington .I would say it didn't seem to be quite as good as i remembered it but that's not to say there's much wrong with it & it is worth playing .
I preferred the back 9 to front 9 .Course was in good condition & the fairways were superb to play off with lovely almost links - like turf .The greens were in good condition however it seems as if they have all been re done since my last visit all those years ago & i preferred them how they used to be ! I didn't like the design of them as they were a bit flat & boring & some would slope off at the edges meaning your ball could run off the sides quite easily.
The pro knocked a bit of the green fee as the greens had been hollow tined which was good of him as the greens were fairly good to putt on.
Overall , this course is what it is & would be worth adding to a list of courses to play in the area as part of a golf trip .

Lovely place
Fantastic welcome and a course that is genuinely worth playing. The greens were as true and slick as I have ever played, probably as true as Royal Lytham. Some very interesting holes!Reviewer Rating

Good course, fair test of ability. Racetrack a bit confusing but you soon get use to it. Great views and nice clubhouse.
