What the club says: Church Stretton Golf Club is the oldest 18-hole course in Shropshire and one of the highest courses in the United Kingdom. It was designed, in part, by Braid and Vardon, adding to the work done earlier by Jack Morris and James Hepburn. The views from all 18 holes are breathtaking and on a clear day, you can see Cheshire, Staffordshire and Herefordshire.

Wow what a course! We definitely got lucky where the weather was concerned but that said the whole group unanimously said it’s a must to come back to. Stunning layout with some shortish par 4s and some beautiful par 3s .Reviewer Rating

My husband on the other hand really enjoyed his game loved the challenge. The club house served the most yummy Sausage rolls and coffee.
Everyone we spoke to were helpful and friendly, would say it’s definitely worth a visit.

Great morning
Had a truly wonderful morning. Was made extremely welcome, course in excellent condition, weather was good with little breeze so perhaps played at it’s easiest but can imagine it’s a stiff test on a windy day. If you play poorly on the day you’ll still enjoy the magic of the magnificent views and charm of the course. Great value for money and I’m going back to play again. 17/08/2023Reviewer Rating

I was a member of CSGC as a kid. The course has matured really nicely since then with more trees and less bunkers. It’s a tough little course if you’ve not played it before but the views really make it worthwhile. The greens are always in good shape and they’re hardly ever on temporary tees. Friendly and helpful pro and nice food and drink in the lovely club house at very reasonable prices. The clubhouse has views over the town and welcomes non players and walkers etc. Well worth a visitReviewer Rating

Great fun
Loved the course! Not a huge fan of uphill par 3s so the first 2 holes are a challenge. One is tough as your first shot and two is a blind par 3. The views are simply stunning, some wonderful green complexes and it was in great condition. You need to be fairly fit as it’s a tough walk but definitely worth the effort. So glad I played it.Reviewer Rating

An absolute challenge
An absolute challenge of a course with magnificent views to compliment. The difficulty of the various holes and some of the sheer uphill routes was unbelievable. I can't wait to play it again.Reviewer Rating

warm up net and putting green, course is a real test don't expect pure greens and level lies. bring your straight hitting game or spend a day in the ferns.loads of blind shots and plenty of drivable par 4s to get back on track. 100% a must play but pray for a nice day on the ridge. pro very friendly and £15 for the pairs open a bargain. enjoyed the day out, walking boots a must for first 3 holes UP UP UP :-)

Great course
Great little course with some challenging holes and amazing views. No two rounds are the same on this course as the weather conditions on the day dictate how each hole plays. Definitely worth a visit(Round played: Jun 2021 - Score: 100 Handicap: 31.4)

Agree with the last writer, it is better than dornoch. Severe climbs and breathtaking views. One of the best I've played. Tough opener, where you just want to swing smooth. 3rd is a blind par 3: great hole. The fourth a tough par four, second shot over a valley to a perched green. Tough green to hit on 14, slope running away to the left of the green. What looks like a chance on the 16, 252 yard par 4, miss right and you are dead though. Fun last two holes that play way down the hill.Reviewer Rating

Stunning! Possibly the best course in England, and I’ve played the big names like St Andrews and Dornoch. Incredible, far reaching views; captivating variety of holes, some with blind shots, some with elevated or lowered pins, some with sunken and tilted greens; a friendly clubhouse; a fair price. It’s challenging and pure and a joy to play.Reviewer Rating
