What the club says: King's Lynn Golf Club was founded in 1923 and the club moved to its current site in 1975. The 18 hole course was designed by Dave Thomas and Peter Alliss and at 6609 yards par 72 is a real challenge for even the most accomplished player. Each hole is unique with undulating natural tree lined fairways of silver birch and fir, strategically placed to cost you a shot or more should you wander a little off line.

The Norfolk Woburn? Somewhat hyperbolic - but the closest you are goin
Being a Suffolk native, I recently hoped over the border into Norfolk (evading the Norfolk passport control) to play KLGC. Worried that the sat nav was taking me in totally the wrong direction, the concealed entrance to the car park is one to keep an eye out for. Pulling into the carpark, you start to get the feeling that something special is about to happen.I would struggle to find any negative comments to make about KLGC. The staff were fantastic and welcoming at every turn. Playing as a two ball on a mid Wednesday morning, we were invited to play through by three separate four ball groupings - who were desperate for our comments and feedback on their home course. Every member we encountered was welcoming and made us feel at home - other course, please take note of this.
The course itself was a true gem. Despite lacking a bit of variety (most holes dog leg to set up a right handed fade shot off the tee), the course made up for it in consistency and playing conditions. The gentle opening hole is quickly followed by a tricky second hole that de-arms the longer hitters by taking driver out of the equation. The fourth may have been my personal highlight of the day - a blind tee shot, downhill with a 90 degree turn at the best. The hole incorporates a bell to signal to the next group that the tee is clear - but this clearly works on the basis you dont hit a 270/290 yard tee shot, or go for the green in one.
The rest of the course was in fabulous condition. Green were receptive and true, rough was penal but not too punishing. Some holes were played off winter mats - but not the usual cheap and rubbish ones. Teeing up driver from the mat was no issue, and it didn't distract from the quality of the day.
A quick light refreshment in the well stocked bar ended the day in the right frame. Less than £4 for two large soft drinks also represented great value for money.
I will be back. Fabulous day, and a must for anyone in the West Norfolk area. The Norfolk Holy Grail may have just become a 36 hole day - 18 and KLGC, followed by 18 at Royal West Norfolk.

Mature, tree lined course
If you are a straight hitter you will love this course. It is situated in a lovely part of Norfolk and is an excellent inland course. The fairways are narrow but should you venture into the trees there is always a shot out as they are mature and well spaced. Fairways are beautifully manicured, bunkers are well maintained and the greens have some interesting shapes and slopes. Personally, one of my new favourites.Reviewer Rating

Stunning Parkland
What a gem.Whole course is superbly tree lined throughout and perfectly manicured.
Lush fairways and excellent greens beautifully sculptured into it natural surroundings.
Very tight in places so may not be the first choice for higher handicappers but you can still enjoy it.

Likely parkland course
A much underated and possibly a little overlooked course in North Norfolk. Quite flat, but tight fairways, make this a challenging course.(Round played: Apr 2018 - Score: 104 Handicap: 27.1)
