What the club says: Many may be aware of the palace at Hampton Court but not necessarily its golf course. Within the grounds at Home Park, it offers a truly unique opportunity to play a traditional parkland course at one of the country’s most famous royal parks.

As golfers of ability, the new owners take great pride in the presentation of their courses. At 6,500 yards, the par 71 design meanders through hundreds of mature trees in a naturally free draining location.

More interested in selling food and drink than a golfers' experience

This venue seems to be about the bar, club house and terrace and not the golfer's experience.

Why have all the ball washers been removed?
Why have most of the bins been removed (with litter left where they used to be)?
Why are all of the flags the same colour?
Why is EVERYONE paired up?
Why is it so slow (5-6 hour round).

Answer - to maximise revenue and reduce costs. This company seem to have done the same to Pyfrord - minimise golfing costs and investing heavily in selling food and drink and a venue for anything that will bring money in.

Interestingly, Get Golfing are a "charity" but seem to take a lot of money out of the "charity" by selling food and drink at premium prices. A questionable business model which certainly does not seem to have the golfers experience at its core.

The course was absolutely perfect in every way. From the well-maintained fairways to the challenging but fair greens, every detail was thoughtfully designed to provide an exceptional golfing experience. The layout was both scenic and strategically interesting, keeping me engaged throughout the entire round. The staff was friendly and helpful, adding to the overall positive atmosphere. I was thoroughly impressed and very satisfied with the experience. It’s a course I would highly recommend to anyone looking for a top-notch day of golf. I can't wait to return!

Disappointed

Glad I played it for the experience but wasn't over awed. A bit of a links course. Nothing of great character to the course - felt like ground hog day - played the same hole 18 times. Staff excellent and very efficient.

Extremely slow. Bad value for money.

Tried to play a quick twighlight round after work as a two-ball. Got paired with another two-ball AFTER teeing off (starter told us after our tee-shots that we would have to wait for another pair). Course was full of groups that had been paired, so extremely slow four-ball pace the whole way around. Had to give up after 12 holes. At £45 for a twighlight round, this is not a good value golf course at the best of times but particularly not if there's only time to fit in 12 holes.

Many improvements around the course and facilities - greens are well looked after, fairways are well kept and the surroundings are historic. A lot of money is being invested there. Fabulous clubhouse and food.

First time

This was my first visit to Hampton Court Palace Golf Club, the course is a parkland course and a good test for any golfer. The course was in very good condition and we had a dry day. I hope to return soon

If you want a six hour round, it's perfect

Played yesterday- it took 6 hours. No Marshall. Everyone paired up and bunched together.

There is seemingly no real interest in the golfer's experience here as the majority of times I have played it since it's been the same - paired up and a very long round.

Since new owners Get Golfing have taken over, this has become a venue with a golf course, not a golf club.

Extortionate prices for food and drink whilst out on the course (£3.30 for a small soft drink). Avoid!!

Pleasant all round

Very nice flat course where you need to be on the fairway! There were four temporary greens which did let it down and some bunkers that need work but everything else including clubhouse, food and welcome was very good. Shame it is too far away from me to play it other than now and again

Drains well. Club House closed when finished round, lots of temporary greens, greens in terrible condition - looks like minimal amount of green keeping work. Seems a better place for a function than to enjoy a game of golf. Very expensive food and drink on course.

Played 9 holes on a Tuesday afternoon and got around in 1h25min. After 3 days of rain, no puddles and dry course - perfect drainage. Scenic setting and nice to see deer. Clubhouse does not serve food after 5 but v friendly.

Thank you for your review, great time to play and get round quickly. Course always performs well in the wetter months of the year as it is build on gravel and sand.

Minimal challenge and slow play

Took about 5 hours for the round, not a huge amount of variation in the course but the facilities were really good. Decent value for money

Thanks for the review Dan, we have extra marshals on busy days where we can help spot for balls and keep people moving. Get Golfing have continued to invest back into the course, club and all facilities amongst many other projects for free school meals, free junior membership, free golf lessons and much more. Hopefully see you again soon!

Great Changes

Love the changes that have been made recently as previously played in 2019 and it is so much better now. The clubhouse had a great atmosphere with music playing and good food, they even said I could bring my dog along to walk the course. Greens were incredibly quick and shows I need to work on my putting. Staff very friendly and Lelani really helped me out, nothing was too much to ask. Thank you and will be back soon.

Thanks for the 5 star review Johnathan, Get Golfing have made a lot of investment both on and off the course since taking over in June 2020. We still have the some fairways to add irrigation into and a few more bunker renovations but it is getting better each week. Hopefully see you again soon and take a look at our flexible membership as its a great offer and works out a lower price than paying green fees with all the members benefits.

Keeps on improving

Played 9 holes on Sunday evening a full week after club champs took place and the course was in really good condition. A couple of fairways will really benefit from the promised irrigation when it finally comes but far better than in years gone by. However the greens were by far the best I've ever seen them; firm, fast and true! Hopefully they'll stay that way for much more of the year going forward. New bunkers all over the course apart from a few holes not started or not quite finished, generally look good and play well but placement of them is a bit repetitive on a couple of holes for my liking. Hoping they'll improve the pitching and chipping area at some point too but the place is heading in the right direction.

Thank you for the review Richard, we will continue to make improvements with irrigation into all fairways (currently 1st and 18th complete) and the remaining bunkers to be changed. We are part of Get Golfing who are not afraid to invest into the courses and clubhouses and most importantly everyone is welcome. Hope to see you again soon!
