What the club says: Filey Golf Club was established in 1897. The original course was situated on land to the north of this fine old East Yorkshire fishing town. The course moved to its present site on the south side of town two years later. The design of the "new links" is credited to James Braid and examples of his design features can be seen on the course. It has been suggested that Dr. Alister Mackenzie, during his period of residence in Leeds, made amendments to the original design. The purchase of adjoining land has allowed the club to incorporate a 9-hole short course into its facilities. This new "Academy" course is still being developed but is proving popular with beginners and visitors who do not wish to play the main course.

Average layout but spectacular last two holes
The layout was disappointing with an unnecessarily close overlap of 2/3/14, also tenth was undergoing serious rework and the fifth had a temporary green, neither of which was mentioned by the pro. The last two holes had spectacular views across the bay and played like links, whereas most was just parkland. Aside from the repair work, the course was in good shape but the greens were slow relative to nearby courses.Reviewer Rating

Great condition
Credit must go to the greenkeepers, I've played a few times over winter and the course has been in great condition especially for the time of the year. Only gripe is players should replace their divots more. Only thing stopping me rating it top marks. Well done Filey Golf Club.Reviewer Rating

Poor condition
Could be a very nice little course if looked after but the condition of the course is very poor. Lift and place to one club length! Everywhere because of the overall condition of fairways and greens! Would play again but will wait until course is in better shape.(Round played: May 2021 - Score: 85 Handicap: )
