What the club says: 18 hole parkland Course. Although mainly a parkland course, it does have a cliff top start and finish. Stunning views of both the North Bay and Castle make this James Braid designed course both a delight and a challenge to play at any time of the year.
At 6498 yards with a SSS 72 North Cliff is testing for the low handicap player, yet is enjoyable for the mid to high handicap golfer.

Too many mundane holes
There were a few signature holes but too many mundane either up and down or too short holes. Played on a very wet day and course was holding up well, most greens were good but a few had bare patches. The semi was punitive in places, fast round until last four holes when stuck behind slow four ball. Wanted to get a drink at the bar but was unable to attract anyone’s attention.Reviewer Rating

First visit
This was the first time we had visited Scarborough North Cliff as a guest of a member. Thank you Ray. What a thoroughly enjoyable days golf. Greens and fairways immaculate. Our game went to the final putt on the final green. We will be returning again very soon.Reviewer Rating

Pleasant course
Although the clubhouse sits on top of the cliffs, this predominantly isn't a links course. Holes 1,2 & 16-18 are on the sea side of the course and are quite flat & straight, over the road the course bewcomes more woodland, varied and undulating (the better part of the course). For ?17 as a visitor on a Sunday it was excellent value and in good condition.Reviewer Rating

Course of 2 Parts
I visited North Cliff with a friend who has moved to the area and who is seeking a new club. The booking was easy though the site and we got a Hot Deal at about 50% of the usual green fee.
On arrival the Pro Shop was easily seen, and the Pro was welcoming and gave us some great advice on the course, and a code to access the locker room. This was tidy and very welcome with lockers for visitors.
The 1st tee is spectacular with views over the sea to the castle. A strong westerly wind was challenging for those with a 'power fade' drive.
The first 2 and last 3 holes are played on the cliff side of the main road, The remainder of the holes are on a parkland style area which is reminiscent of Portugal with the pine tree fringed fairways.
Spectacular views abound, but with a 4 to 5 club wind, playing was a challenge.
Pace of play was not really an issue as the course was quiet. Preferred lies were in operation, but the fairways were dry and in excellent condition. Greens and approaches had been deep tined about 10 days previously, we had been advised, but they were varied in their playability.
The clubhouse offered a good choice of drinks and offered great views over the bay.
I'd love to return in less challenging conditions.

day two of three
today we played North Cliff to say it was windy was an understatement, to be expected as this was a cliff top course next to the sea, that said the course conditions were good although the greens still had some winter spiking present, a challenging course especially in the conditions,a little open on the first two and last three but when you crossed the road for the other holes it became a different picturesque course, a little rain added to the mix although this only lasted some 30 mins and as it was warm was not a deal breaker, would love to go back on a sunny day and play again(Round played: Apr 2018 - Score: 107 Handicap: 23.8)
