Good course, slow play
Course is great. Fairly flat with some interesting holes. Clubhouse and staff great. Biggest issue - slow play and poor on course etiquette. We were a two ball. Very slow four ball in front. Players are asked to be ready to play. Dont pfaff. Call quicker players through. Not once were these adopted by four ball in front. Over four hours for 18 holes!Reviewer Rating

Good condition
Played as a 3-ball on Saturday 13th Jan; considering the weather we had in the preceding two weeks, the course was in good condition (trollies were permitted). The majority of the holes had firm fairways and the greens were in excellent conditions. There was standing water in a couple of places, but never on the actual fairway; I think the worst conditions we came across were on #10, but that is usual. Great to see most of the bunkers maintained with fresh, soft sand.
We choose to play Colmworth because of the good conditions all year round and the welcome is always very friendly. Green fees are reasonable for the area and booking is easy.

Worth a visit but don't expect too much
Played in a small (13 players) Society day, with bacon roll and tea/coffee before 18 holes. Not sure of the price, but we were all given 2 for 1 vouchers to encourage us to come back. It’s only a couple of miles from our home club so would need to be very cheap to drive that short distance and pay, rather than play at home course without needing to pay.Having not played here since 2011, I didn’t recognise much of the course, which now looks quite picturesque. I am however aware that under the elevated tees and other mounds; lie heaps of ‘rubbish’, from car write-offs to broken fridges. These were actually in evidence when I first played here in a County event! Having said all that, I was very impressed with how the course looks and plays now. Some very interesting holes, but after some quite dry weather, the greens were not at all receptive, with most shots running further than allowed for. Some bunkers had newer lighter (grey) coloured sand and seemed OK, but the ones with sand coloured stuff in them were pretty awful, and we did hear that the members treat them all as GUR.
The clubhouse seems to be having work done to it, and the roadway in and car park looks like it could do with some work being done. There were some nice areas to sit after the round, both inside and outside. Didn’t see a pro-shop, so very little in the way of merchandise which seemed to be available in the bar area. Staff we met were very friendly.
Will probably try to come back without leaving it for another 12 years!

Tees and bunkers need attention
A parkland course with relatively flat greens. A variety of holes with some testing drives. Most holes within reach for mid-handicappers. The course is let down by the state of the tees and the awful condition of most of the bunkers. Many of the members treat the bunkers as GUR during general play.,Reviewer Rating

Overpriced and underwhelmed
I would imagine that during the summer months this course will come into its own as generally it is set in a lovely area. However during the winter months it is at best shabby and uninviting. The patchy and untidy car park doesn't exactly welcome you, as does the side of the clubhouse which looks like it's been blown away. The course condition itself is average for the time of year, with the expected presence of beer cans and sandwich wrappers visible as you pass along. Fairways and tee boxes showing signs of overuse over the past few weeks, and signs across the course of incomplete projects still work in progress. However what lets the course down is first of all the amount of OOB and distance markers that are either broken, in need of painting or those that have just been thrown into hedgerows or left laying around. Secondly the course in places does appear to be a dumping ground for redundant and broken golf equipment, as we came across a couple of broken umbrellas, broken club shafts and in one wooded area a discarded golf buggy, a general tidy up would not go amiss. However the main issue that in effect ruined our round was the behaviour of some of the members which really does not reflect good on the club. We were stuck behind two club members that for some reason decided that at peak weekend time it would be a good idea to share a range finder as they went along. The pace of play was ridiculous to say the least until they reluctantly and belatedly allowed us to play through, but not before they reminded us they were members, as if that afforded them some sort of additional privileges. Having negotiated these 2 players we were then unfortunate to then be stuck behind 4 further members who appeared to be engaged in some sort of personal competition, and with no regard for golfers backed up behind them failed to allow us to play through for the final 6 holes of our round, which took some 120 minutes. All in all very disappointing that based on the amount charged our day did not meet up to expectations, and both the course and its members need some serious improvements.

First visit
Played Colmworth, 4th Feb., for the first time at the recommendation of a friend. Great location and layout, friendly welcome and a good deal on price. For the time of year, the fairways were in very good condition, only came across two places that were a little ?boggy?. Greens were a real pleasant surprise, some challenging ones, but overall, in fantastic condition for early Feb.
Booking again for this weekend, definitely recommend a visit.

Tired Course
This normally attractive course is showing signs of wear and tear, and clear indications of overuse. Taking into consideration the wet weather of late the course does appear more worse for wear than other courses we have played recently. Not helped by numerous maintenance and remedial unfinished projects scattered around the course. Tee boxes mainly blocks of mud, fairways tinged mainly brown with mud, caused by trolley and buggy tracks. Greens saturated, and the fringes developing a muddy appearance. The call to stop buggies has come too late, the course gives the impression of being a sick patient during the winter in need of a break and some convalescence.Reviewer Rating
