What the club says: Situated in Buxton, Cavendish was opened in 1925 and designed Dr Alister MacKenzie, whose list of courses includes the iconic Augusta National, home of the Masters. Cavendish is regarded by experts to be MacKenzie’s ‘Inspiration for Augusta’ and it’s easy to see why. With undulating fairways, sloping greens and well thought out hazards, there are many holes at Cavendish that definitely mirror many of those found at Augusta National.
Cavendish has been voted as a Top 100 UK Golf course for the past 4 years, and was voted as a Top 100 Fun Course to play in 2018. Cavendish is thought by many to be quite possibly the best layout in the world under 6000 yards, offering ‘sheer golfing enjoyment’.

Superb course!
One of the best courses I've played in the UK.Fantastic scenery with panoramic views and the course is maintained to a very high standard.
The greens are in fantastic condition and although not the longest of courses, there are plenty of holes to test any golfers ability.

Beautiful course, challenging and playable
Played at Cavendish Golf Club yesterday with my local society. It was a beautiful course, challenging and playable. Designed by Dr Alister MacKenzie who designed Augusta National. It's excellent and we will return. Highly recommended.Reviewer Rating

We visited yesterday and had a fantastic day as we did last year. Everyone at the club treated us superbly, friendliest club we've been to. Agree with those who say this must just about the toughest par 68 course around . My tip is to score points early as later blind holes are very intimidatating . Greens are tricky .

It's well-maintained and provides a great test for golfers of all levels. The holes are unique and interesting, and the McKenzie designed greens are fun. The clubhouse is welcoming and the greens are true.

Great challenge
