What the club says: Originally laid down in 1930 and redesigned in 1938 by the renowned Arthur Day, the Catterick course has undergone a series of developments that have increased its sophistication, enhanced its challenge and heightened its appeal.

Cunning and subtle design is now the hallmark of the 6378-yard, Par 71 course. Strategically placed bunkers and cleverly guarded enlarged greens work with the natural hazards of the undulating terrain to create a tough but rewarding test of skill for all standards of golfer.

The names of the holes give a hint of the hazards to be encountered when playing them. ‘Heartbreak Hill’, ‘Windy Corner’ and ‘Devil’s Elbow’, speak for themselves and give an indication of the challenge provided. With many fairways lined by mature oaks, elms, copper beeches and conifers, the course is a delight to play.

Great course. Stumbled on it looking for somewhere to play - absolutely wonderful course, great views, bit of a challenge but nice holes and tight greens

Great course

Party of 8 traveled to play and found the course to be excellent and very interesting. Good test of golf and the front 9 is more difficult than the back 9. Greens were quick for the time of year and the course was in superb condition. The par 4 6th is an interesting hole where you don't want to be above the flag but the 2nd shot is a club longer than your GPS watch will tell you.
Special to the professional who was very friendly and gave some good advice.

Really good course, let down by Pace of Play!

We had a great weather and the course was in very good condition, greens still getting worked on but ran well. Only let down for the course was the pace of play, we took over 4 hours to get round being held up behind a 4 ball who wouldn't let anyone through.

New greenkeeping equipment.

With the good weather in the northeast over the last few days the greenkeepers have been out in force and the course has benefited massively. greens are great and the fairways are brilliant. having spoken to the pro afterward, he said that they have just got some new equipment for the staff and boy have they put it to great use. well worth playing.

ONE OF THE BEST IN REGION

A challenging hilly course that will keep you thinking. Easily one of the best in the region. Great food and warm and friendly staff ina well appointed club house.

Flat lies are a rarity and the physical environment has you pondering where to play your approach shot even when you split he fairway with your drive. Great views and a tough course when the wind is up. Good luck.
