What the club says: Carnwath Golf Club was founded in 1907 on a piece of land called Gallow Hill, situated to the west of the village of Carnwath. The 9 hole course was laid out by Mr W, Auchterlonie of St Andrew's and opened by Lady Lockhart, the wife of Sir Simon M Lockhart, Honorary President of the club and laird of the estates, on 29th June 1907.
The course was extended to 18 holes in May 1922 and by 1936 was visited by more than 3000 golfers annually. With the acquisition of a further 20 acres south of the course, it's layout was again redesigned by G M Clark, club champion, and the new layout opened in July 1963.

Played here as we won a fourball - what a great day we had. The course is fantastic (although some signage would be helpful). The members made us very welcome and indeed helped with the lack of signage by letting us know where to go next! Great snack in the bar afterwards with helpful staff. Everyone we met - members, professional and staff genuinely wanted us to have a good time at their club - and we did, we will be back!Reviewer Rating

Fantastic course condition. Great to play
Course in great condition with quick greens .Par 3s are a real challenge. Good split of long par 4s and shorter 4s to try and grab a few birdies.Reviewer Rating

Great course, superb hospitality
Excellent course, generally in very good condition with excellent, true greens. The hospitality is superb with very friendly Pro and bar staff. The catering is excellent and fanstastic value for money.(Round played: May 2019 - Score: 72 Handicap: 1.6)

cloudy overcast day. Greens medium pace some slightly faster than others. A little rain the day before had taken the dry look off the course.(Round played: Jul 2018 - Score: 80 Handicap: 9.5)

Not for me thanks
The course has an unusual lay out which was to my taste. It is very hilly with a lot of blind holes which again is not my ideal course. There were some nice holes but too many crossed over each other which meant it was s slow round.Reviewer Rating
