played here many years ago and spent most of my youth on this course. I could not believe how much the local council has let this course get into such a terrible state , this used to be one of the best public courses around, alas this was over 47 years ago. my round was ruined by a member of one of the clubs i believe Belfairs who accused me and my wife of jumping on not paying green fees. I live in Lincoln some 160 miles away. Who in right mind would drive this distance to jump on, i must have come across local half wit

You know when playing at Belfairs extra care must be taken as there are lots of the public walking around the course & surrounding woods. Having said that before teeing off on the 1st, pro said the greens had been attacked by crows, after playing the course nearly every green had big holes in them. The poor green keepers must be pulling their hair out trying to repair them, they have left the greens long to try & prevent the damage, but have left them very slow & very difficult to read. Having said all this still enjoyed our round, with the amusement of the unpredictable greens. We were stuck behind a 3 ball who had no intention of letting me & my playing partner through

Great course

Course is in excellent condition, greens have been well looked after and seemed to be running faster than usual.

This course has a lot of potential, going from an open front 9 to a more in closed back 9, it makes you think about what shots to play.

Only thing that lets this course down is people walking their dogs across the fairways and have no sense of etiquette. Fairways and greens aren't the best but value for money is good.

Return After 7 Years

Our normal Tuesday club was down to three of us this week so I booked Belfairs (which used to be a starter course for most of us in this area)
First and foremost, it cost ?19.50 for a round and the course was worth it. It's a council-run course so lacks attention to detail and is open to Public and Animal wear and tear).
When we played on 05/09/23 it was very hot so by token the fairways although green in colour were very quick.
The actual greens were in good order. Some of the holes needed some care around the rim. The real disappointment was some of the Tee boxes were a bit shabby and overgrown.
Belfairs as a course is very tree lined and as such is pretty to look at and demanding to play especially if it's running quickly. This club desperately needs an injection of cash, stewarding, and change in the Pro Shop (which looks like a public toilet). Overall it was nice to be back and hopefully it will remain in good order .
If you are there early there is no eating facility till 10. There are no practice facilities there either (as far as I'm aware). We all did enjoy the round and will be back, which is a testament to the golf challenge.

For a public course it is in good condition. Greens excellent. Rough very long and dangerous to your score.
