What the club says: Our 9 Hole Golf Course is a 1879 yard parkland type course which overlooks the beautiful Welland Valley.
The course consists of six par three holes and three par four holes which may sound short or unorthordox to the purist, but we can assure you with the tight fairways and target greens it makes for an interesting round of golfer for a player of any experience.

Played 9 holes with our 2 teenagers (well behaved) who are fairly new to the game but not too bad. We let others play through, but were still approached by extremely unfriendly staff who accused us of doing 18 holes. When we denied this, they completely had our start time wrong, yet continued to treat us as though we had done something awful.. Unless you can do the course on par, you are clearly not welcome here!! Not sure where the younger generation can learn without complaints!!! Absolutely disgusted by how we were spoken to...Reviewer Rating

Well worth a visit, tough little course
For a 9 hole course Blackthorn Wood GC is a very challenging course and well worth a visit if only to have a go at the 9th hole on top of the plateau. It's very good value for under £15 whether you play 9 or 18 holes. Very friendly and well kept course.Reviewer Rating

Dissapointed
Watch for closing time we were putting out on the 16th green at 10 mins to 6 when we were approached by the green keeper who told us we had to leave as the course closed at 6pm it was a bright sunny day when I asked why as it states on the web site and the gate that it doesn't close till 9pm ha said that it has been closing at 6 for some time now. The times on the web site and on the gate should be changed if we had been informed about this when we paid the green fee's we would have left and went to Priors hall golf course witch close's at dusk, There were others behind us who were just as unhappy about this I for one wont be back.Reviewer Rating

Small but challenging.
A neat little course that challenges your short game, it is in really good condition at the moment. If you want 18 holes you go round twice for the same price as 9, which is really good value. The clubhouse has bar & restaurant sections, what was the shop now houses a golf simulator. It also has a proper range with about 30 spaces.Well worth a visit.

The course is quite challenging for a 9 hole course it has three par 4's and the rest are par
3's, conveniently placed bunkers and ponds mean you often have to lay up on par 4's, the
9th is on a plateau about 6 feet high, the clubhouse has a bar and other amenities and it is the same price whether you play 9 or 18 holes. It also has a full driving range.

The course was in good condition for the time of year and weather. The greens were quite fast and mostly green (not much straw colour). For anyone who has'nt played there, its a fairly short 9 hole course but its not easy, its quite narrow in places with challenging bunkers and ponds strategically placed. It has 3 par 4's and 6 par 3's. It is also good value because it cost the same for 18 holes (twice round) as it does for 9. There is a restaurant or snacks at the counter, a golf range and shop, all in all just about anything you would need. Also there is the Blackthorn Society, a friendly club that is always looking for new members.
