Best new game improvement irons 2014
Manufacturers are always working hard to push the bar higher when designing new game improvement irons. 2014 has seen the launch of a series of most technologically advanced irons ever made including new models from Titleist, Callaway, COBRA and PING.
PING i25
The 17-4 stainless steel irons deliver forgiveness and distance with control to inspire confident shot making. In the progressive set design, the long irons are designed with head sizes and sole widths that deliver high trajectory and extreme forgiveness. The more compact mid and short irons have narrow soles and less offset for enhanced accuracy and scoring. Narrow face-stabilising bars in the long irons increase ball velocity for added distance and height while wider bars in the short irons produce a controlled, lower ball flight with softer feel. The careful design details in the club’s shape and set progression are captured with an inspiring foggy chrome finish. Tungsten weighting in the low toe increases forgiveness. A machined face and grooves deliver control and consistency.

COBRA BIO Cell
The BiO CELL Irons are driven by tungsten-fueled distance and forgiveness. Long and mid irons feature heavy tungsten in the heel and toe for more forgiveness. Short irons feature tungsten centered behind the hitting area for added distance and control.
Titleist AP1
Titleist have announced the launch of the new AP1 and AP2 (714 Series) irons. The new irons feature precise, progressive designs which have been developed by the Titleist Golf Clubs R&D team to produce optimum launch, trajectory and distance by loft.
The new Titleist AP1 and AP2 (714 Series) irons will be available in golf shops across Europe beginning November 8th 2013. AP1 irons have a SRP £93 (steel shaft) and £107 per club (graphite). AP2 irons have a SRP £114 (steel) and £130 (graphite) per club

Callaway X2 Hot
The X2 Hot Irons have a new Deep Central Undercut that increases the face compliance to boost ball speeds and – you guessed it – distance. A stabilising arch optimises the stiffness distribution across the face for a great sound and feel, while moving the hot spot lower on the face (and therefore more in line with a player’s impact location). Distance and ball speed are a huge part of the X2 Hot Iron, but Callaway have gone further with design that incorporates high MOI along with a repositioned centre of gravity and improved turf interactio. This has helped improve the downrange consistency by as much as 40%, easily making these the most accurate long distance irons Callaway has ever designed.
