Scotland's Caddies Acclaimed DVD

By: Darren Ramowski | Wed 29 Jun 2011

Scotlands CaddiesScotland's Caddies is a 69 minute documentary celebrating the caddies of Scotland, the Home of Golf.

Featuring weathered, thick-brogued bagmen from a host of famous links, Scotland’s Caddies has won rave reviews since its release in 2010.

Fans of the documentary, shot by by acclaimed director Ron Colby, praise its humor and insight, provided by caddies from St. Andrews, Turnberry, Royal Troon, Royal Dornoch and other hallowed courses. Naturally, the scenery is breathtaking.

Praise from reviewers has bordered on effusive. For example, Vic Williams of Fairways+Greens Magazine called it “the best 69 minutes you’ll ever spend watching anything to do with our favorite game,” while popular pro Peter Jacobsen said, “It makes me want to jump on a plane for Glasgow right now.”

Others applauding Scotland’s Caddies include George Peper, co-author of True Links and editor of Links Magazine; Tim Murphy of Golf World; Jason Scott Deegan of WorldGolf.com; widely published freelance writers Tony Dear and Larry Olmsted; and Tony Korologos of the blog HookedOnGolf.com.

Highlights of Scotland's Caddies include:

  • Amusing anecdotes from career caddies like Jimmy Kelly (Gleneagles) and William Cowan (Prestwick), who share some of their stories over pints in local pubs.
  • First-person tales of celebrity golfers including Michael Jordan, Sean Connery and Jack Lemmon, as well as former Presidents Bill Clinton and George H.W. Bush.
  • The caddies' priceless takes on the tipping habits and personalities of golfers from different parts of America and the world.
  • History lessons from Ronnie MacAskill, Director of Golf at Royal Aberdeen, and David Joy, star of a one-man show about Old Tom Morris.
  • Stunning visuals of golf's most beloved layouts, including Gleneagles, Prestwick, Kingsbarns and Machrihanish Golf Club.

Scotland’s Caddies is available on DVD for $19.95 (plus S&H) at www.scotlandscaddies.com.

Shipping to the UK will usually take around 7-10 days.
