The Best Golf Drivers 2024

By: | Fri 15 Mar 2024

Yes, we have to admit that we're suckers for new drivers, and there are some incredible ones on the market this year. Somehow, it's the most alluring of clubs, with manufacturers pouring everything they have to offer golfers that edge off the tee, whether it be greater distance, enhanced consistency, or higher levels of forgiveness.

For 2024, the class of models is undoubtedly exceptional, and Golfshake Equipment Expert, Ryan Rastall has thoroughly enjoyed testing and reviewing all of them.

But what are the standouts in a competitive field? Ryan has picked out the finest and described them in a video that you can watch on YouTube or at the bottom of this page.

However, before that, we have more details on the drivers that he has showcased!

It's time to find your next driver - and it could be these!

TaylorMade Qi10 Max

TaylorMade Qi10 Max

TaylorMade's Qi10 Max is an incredibly forgiving driver - as its MOI (Moment Inertia) reaches 10,000 g-cm². What this effectively means is that the club reduces head-rotation on off-centre hits, protects ball speed and delivers consistent launch conditions over a variety of strikes.

Key Tech

  • Qi10 Max has the highest MOI in TaylorMade history at 10,000.
  • Thanks to strategic mass placement, golfers can more easily square up the head for straighter drives.
  • The 60X Carbon Twist Face is significantly lighter than traditional titanium faces, which allows for a more efficient transfer of energy, while a new supporting structure in the driver encourages faster ball speeds.
  • Better weight distribution and forgiveness are supported by the new Infinity Carbon Crown that covers 97% of the total crown area.
  • This driver has a clean view at address with added alignment support courtesy of a high contrast topline that has been integrated within the 60-Layer Carbon Twist Face.
  • Qi10 Max's oversized shape at address should help to inspire confidence off the tee.

PING G430 Max 10K

PING G430 MAX 10K

PING has also taken forgiveness to another level with its G430 Max 10K (referring to the MOI) with the fixed tungsten backweight within its 460cc head driving mass down and optimising the centre of gravity position, lowering spin and maintaining ball speed across the face.

Key Tech

  • The 28g fixed backweight has positioned the centre of gravity lower and deeper in the driver.
  • Carbonfly Wrap Crown weighs 13g and has been fully installed and saves 5g of weight to lower the CG and heighten MOI.
  • The G430 Max 10K has a thinner, shallower forged face that offers more flexing, ball speed and distance.
  • The variable face roll radius optimises spin and adds distance.
  • Golfers will enjoy a powerful sensation with this driver as the sound is less muted.

Callaway Ai Smoke Triple Diamond

Callaway Ai Smoke

There is an Ai Smoke driver for everyone, but Ryan was especially drawn to the Triple Diamond model, which suits better golfers who are seeking extra workability off the tee. This driver has been shaped with a neutral-to-fade biased face and a compact overall head size.

Key Tech

  • Designed by analysing the swings of thousands of real golfers to create the Ai Smart Face that offers ideal launch conditions.
  • The driver has sweet spots, not just in the centre, but all over the face.
  • The 360° Carbon Chassis has been enhanced to promote increased weight distribution.
  • Shaped with a neutral-to-fade biased face and a compact overall head size, Triple Diamond model will appeal to golfers who wish to shape the ball off the tee.

COBRA DarkSpeed X

Cobra DarkSpeed X

Golfers should be able to find an individual DarkSpeed model that most suits them, but COBRA's new X driver is the one that fits the widest spectrum of players who are seeking that fabulous combination of speed and forgiveness.

Key Tech

  • This driver benefits from an improved aero shape that features a streamlined face to topline radius, a higher crown peak, raised skirt and reduced club face surface area.
  • The club head shape has been designed to offer workability and control with added forgiveness.
  • Distance is greater thanks to a 10% larger PWRSHELL L-cup face, while the H.O.T. Face delivers more efficient speed and spin.
  • That is further encouraged by the lower and forward-located suspended PWR-BRIDGE weight.

Titleist TSR3

Titleist TSR3

It's not a new driver, but it's still one of the best and it was a favourite of Ryan's. You may remember that Cameron Smith used the TSR3 when he won The 150th Open at St Andrews in 2022, with this particular model being created to deliver speed, distance, and playability with performance-tuned adjustability.

Key Tech

  • TSR3 features several tweaks that make it fly faster through the air.
  • The sweet spot is now even more rewarding thanks to variable face thickness introduced by Titleist engineers.
  • The refined SureFit Adjustable CG Track System makes it easier to position the club exactly how you wish.
  • Manufactured by Graphite Design, the chosen premium shafts take advantage of advanced materials to offer even better levels of performance.

Wilson DynaPower Carbon

Wilson DyanPower

Released last year, the DynaPower is among the most adjustable drivers offered by Wilson, and it comes available in either Carbon or Titanium head options. Ryan has picked out the former and he especially loves the custom fitting options that are provided by this model - including swing weight, flex, shaft, loft and lie.

Deploying artificial intelligence technology during its design of the head, the Carbon model has been created for those golfers who wish to shape the ball, with the lightweight Carbon composite panels and a 12g weight moving the Centre of Gravity lower and more forward to deliver lower spin alongside neutral to fade ball flight tendencies.

Key Tech

  • The head features carbon panels on the crown and sole plate, positioning the CG low and forward to create a driver with low spinning characteristics with a neutral bias.
  • Artificial intelligence analysed thousands of different possibilities to find the ideal design that provides faster ball speeds across the face.
  • DynaPower's new one-click adjustable hosel system allows you to customise the driver beautifully.
