FootJoy HyperFlex Carbon Golf Shoe Review

REVIEW: FootJoy HyperFlex Carbon

By: Golfshake Editor | Tue 21 Mar 2023

The FootJoy HyperFlex Carbon Golf Shoe was unveiled at the beginning of this year and was described as being the Ultimate Walking Golf Shoe, offering a lightweight and comfortable fit alongside maximum stability.

FootJoy have enjoyed an illustrious history and their footwear collection continuously improves after every annual release.

Golfshake’s Equipment Expert, Ryan Rastall, got his hands on the shoes and tested them on the course over several rounds during a recent golf trip to Turkey.

Check out his thoughts and analysis in the below video!

Tech Info

The HyperFlex Carbon Golf shoes have been meticulously designed for the modern golfer, delivering on comfortability without sacrificing the crucial elements of performance.

Each shoe features a custom moulded carbon fibre plate that helps to stabilise the golf swing whilst also delivering maximum energy transfer.

Two durometers of foam have been specially used for golf, with StratoFoam absorbing shock from each step.

To help achieve ultimate comfort through the swing, an integrated thermoplastic saddle completely wraps the foot for lateral control.

Additionally, these shoes ensure you are always connected to the ground for maximum energy transfer via the Power Stabiliser design.

Comfort has been further enhanced through the OptiFlex plate, which provides firmness to help support swing stability.

Extra ankle padding helps to lock in your heel with comfort and support, with increased stretch across the foot opening to allow for easier fitting.

Additional Tech:

  • 100% waterproof performance knit
  • Ortholite Impressions Fitbed
  • StratoFoam
  • OptiFlex
  • FTF+ midsole

What Ryan Says

“Having not worn FJ shoes for a long time, it was great to try one of the non-traditional styles. It was also the first time in a while that I had worn a pair with spikes as I tend to prefer spikeless shoes. That being said, the HyperFlex Carbon are marketed as the ultimate walking shoe and I was intrigued to test this strap line when I visited Turkey in early March.

“From the first time I put them on, the combination of sock liner and Ortholite insole made the shoes fit extremely well. That being said, the size 11 pair I tried were a little big and it’s worth trying a few pairs before selecting yours!

“Shoes of this type, with a sock liner and woven upper, generally offer very little in the ways of support but the HyperFlex Carbon uses a mixture of technologies to achieve this including OptiFlex sole plate, FTF+ midsole and Power Stabiliser.

“Overall, a very good pair of shoes and the comfort is exceptional! Expensive but the performance is everything you would expect from FootJoy.”

Ryan’s Rating: 9
