Charley Hull Player Profile And What's In The Bag

By: | Mon 03 Oct 2022

CHARLEY HULL produced a magnificent final round of 64 to win The Ascendant on the LPGA Tour with a 72-hole total of 266, 18 under par.

It was the English golfer’s first success on the LPGA Tour for six years and it wasn’t easy. Her last triumph on the Tour came in 2016 when she won the CME Group Tour Championship in Florida.

"I have come close a few times since my last victory but I have put in some good work this year," said Hull.

"I think I know my game is there, it was just my confidence. I feel really good, I felt in control of my round, I feel very proud of myself.

"(On chasing pack putting on pressure) I found it all exciting, when Xiyu Lin made eagle on 17, I enjoyed that. It was great fun."

After 11 holes, Hull was tied for the lead with Lydia Ko and Xiyu Lin, but she recorded three birdies in a row to edge ahead.

The chasing pack kept the pressure on Hull throughout, with Lin birdieing the 16th and registering an eagle on the 17th to move within one shot of the leader.

Lin put pressure on Hull on the 17th, when she made an eagle to pull level, but the Brit took a one-shot lead to the final hole with a difficult downhill putt for a birdie.

She parred the final hole to finish on 64, with Lin requiring a birdie to force a play-off, but she fell just short and handed Hull victory.
