As we prepare for the height of the new season, we have reflected on the past year and the courses that golfers recommended to others through our popular Golf Directory.

We’ve opted to section this article in three categories: Most Reviewed, Top Ranked and Most Played. Keep an eye out to see if your home course has made the list or alternatively, use this as ideas for your next golf trip!

Most Reviewed

The Belfry

The courses that feature in this category were the most reviewed layouts on Golfshake in 2021.

Pine Ridge Golf Club, Surrey

Golfshake Rating: 4.18

Review Comment: “For winter, the course was in excellent condition, so credit to the greenkeepers. Some of the best greens I have played on for a very long time.”

Pedham Place Golf Centre, Kent

Golfshake Rating: 4.36

Review Comment: “Course conditions were spot on and the greens were in perfect condition. Pace of play was excellent and it is a really nice course to play.”

Redlibbets Golf Club, Kent

Golfshake Rating: 4.25

Review Comment: “Great course, all different holes and a good price - which, of course, does mean the course is susceptible to busyness.”

The Belfry Golf Club, Warwickshire

Golfshake Rating: 4.40

Review Comment: “I played the Brabazon; the tees and greens were immaculate and the design is simply outstanding. Everything was top notch.”

The Hampshire Golf Club, Hampshire

Golfshake Rating: 3.76

Review Comment: “The pro shop staff were absolutely fantastic and very welcoming. The course is in a prime location with beautiful scenery at the very top. An excellent round of golf, very relaxing and the club exuding a good atmosphere.”

Toot Hill Golf Club, Essex

Golfshake Rating: 4.95

Review Comment: “The course is in tremendous condition, an absolute joy to play.”

The Darenth, Kent

Golfshake Rating: 4.15

Review Comment: “A nice parkland course with wide fairways and light rough. A few bunkers but no water hazards means this layout allows speedy pace of play.”

Top Ranked

Prince's

Here you’ll find the top ranked courses across the last year. If you ever needed additional motivation to visit a certain venue, all of these are highly respected by the Golfshake Community.

Birstall Golf Club, Leicestershire

Golfshake Rating: 4.41

Review Comment: “A lovely and mature golf course, which requires a lot of consideration for the next shot. Beautiful scenery - nature at its best!”

Rothley Park Golf Club, Leicestershire

Golfshake Rating: 3.84

Review Comment: “An excellent course that is in superb condition.”

Beeston Fields Golf Club, Nottinghamshire

Golfshake Rating: 4.60

Review Comment: “A really good golf course, very welcoming. I would definitely recommend and I may also play again if I am in Nottingham.”

London Golf Club, Kent

Golfshake Rating: 5.00

Review Comment: “An absolute belter of a course, greens were fabulous and conditions were excellent.”

The West Lancashire Golf Club, Merseyside

Golfshake Rating: 4.86

Review Comment: “This was my second visit in nine months and it certainly won’t be my last. I enjoyed the visit by train after staying in Formby and what a great fun way to experience this wonderful links.”

Prince’s Golf Club, Kent

Golfshake Rating: 4.71

Review Comment: “The greens and fairways are immaculate; the best thing with this course was the lack of hills, so easier to walk. The fairways are tight but that just makes you think a bit more about where to place the ball.”

Sapey Golf & Country Club, Worcestershire

Golfshake Rating: 4.67

Review Comment: “I was expecting to struggle to break 100 as it was the first time I’d played here playing off 23 but managed 91 so I’m well pleased. Tee boxes, fairways and greens were all excellent - the clubhouse is phenomenal.”

Harleyford Golf Club, Buckinghamshire

Golfshake Rating: 4.43

Review Comment: “Harleyford never disappoints. The course is playing extremely well and it is always in great condition. If you have not played here before, what are you waiting for?!”

Most Played

Stonebridge

The clubs that feature here can be deemed as the most popular throughout the entirety of the Golfshake Community.

Three Rivers Golf & Country Club, Essex

Westgate and Birchington Golf Club, Kent

Golfshake Rating: 4.09

Review Comment: “Do not be fooled about the perceived lack of distance from this course: it is very well kept and challenging. Control is integral to scoring well.”

Pedham Place Golf Centre, Kent

Golfshake Rating: 4.36

Review Comment: “A great course that was really hard as I have never played here before. I enjoyed it very much and I intend on returning.”

Stonebridge Golf Club, Warwickshire

Golfshake Rating: 4.24

Review Comment: “A great course and we were made to feel very welcome by staff and members. A challenging layout with every hole strikingly different, I will be returning to play again.”

Southern Valley Golf Club, Kent
